One or two starters out of the 1st four picks, with the rest solid rotation guys. Andre Brown and Jeremiah Johnson could rotate in to take the load off Slaton and could be productive if they had to fill in for an injury. Green should be a very good backup for now and compete to start in a year or two. Bear Pascoe will knock the puddin' out of you and make tough catches over the middle and in the seam.

I'm going to be a little "outside the box" here.

1. Vontae Davis - CB - Illinois. While Maualuga is probably my top choice here, I just don't know how he and Ryans fit in the same linebacking corps. Davis has Top 5 talent but needs the fire lit under him. Well, we have Mr. Intensity in Dunta Robinson to keep Davis focused. This pick does two things - Davis becomes insurance if Robinson can't be signed to a new deal or if Robinson simply can't come all the way back. And if Robinson *is* all the way back, you now have the best CB tandem in the NFL by 2012. Yeah, I know Jacque Reeves, Fred Bennett, yeah yeah. Given all the three-wides and four-wides out there, they'll all find work.

2. Robert Ayers - DE - Tennessee. Because (all together now) "we have to get to Peyton Manning".

3. Andy Levitre - G - Oregon St. The Steelers always take an OL around this part of the draft and it seems they've been doing okay lately. Levitre fits the ZBS well but if he lasts longer than four hours, you may need to see your doctor.

4a. Javon Ringer - RB - Michigan St. Slaton needs help and Ringer knows how to carry the load. Just hope he doesn't get his bell rung too often.

4b. Kaluka Maiava - OLB - USC. Hey look! We still got a USC linebacker!

5. Mike Wallace - WR - Mississippi. Runs deep, penetrating interviews, uh, I mean, pass routes.

6. Stephen Hodge - OLB - TCU. Throwing bodies at a weak position.

7. Moise Fokou - OLB - Maryland. More bodies at OLB. But, hey, with a name like that he'll be an instant fan favorite if he can make some big hits.

Found this on Ellerbe becuase I had some doubts at 236 whether he could stand up blockers, then I found this:

Strong and physical at the point of attack. Explosive taking on blockers and can shed blocks quickly. Changes directions well and is light on his feet. However does not show 'elite' range and needs to improve pursuit angles. Also struggles wading through traffic when trying to get to the football

I dig that draft but I would trade Johnson for a wide reciever and the 7th pick for a punter.

Just thinking about the whole trade down scenario....

If the Jets are interested in a QB, much like the Bears, then we could trade down to Chicago's #18 so they could draft Mark Sanchez.

The Baltimore Ravens may also want to jump up the draft board to select a Maualuga, Maybin, or Harvin from # 26.

Lastly, Seattle may just want Josh Freeman enough to trade up from #37 to groom behind Hasselback. What might become a bidding contest between two NFC West teams, SF and Seattle (the 49ers offered #43).

What would the trade chart net us for 3 trade downs?

#15 = 1050 points

I was using my draft board and the newest THR Computer mock to fill in the slots. Unfortunately I was unable to get RB Cedrick Peerman (#121) OR FS Chris Clemons (#172). However, overall I'd be pleased with this draft.

I think the D-Line becomes very dynamic and stays fresh for 16 games.

I actually wanted all those threes. I might package the 4's for another 3 and grab a RB like Rashad Jennings at #73.

I could also package the #188 and #223 for #172 for FS Chris Clemons.

I generally agree with what you're saying. However, this year's draft is so freakin' good in the middle rounds and so weak in the 1st. That being said, if you have a reasonably talented team then it's fairly unrealistic to bring in that many rookies- there just aren't enough spots for them, in theory. That being said, with the depth of this draft and weakness at the top, I would probably rather choose 2 LBs (for instance) in the 3rd round and have an open competition in camp rather than trade up or stay at #15 in order to pick my top LB. I just really can't see any real talent dropoff from a player available at #12 to a player at #112.

Take RB, for instance: I think I'd rather have Moreno than Jennings or Shonn Greene but I'm not really sure why or if it's prudent.

That may be due to our defense, but I also think it may be due to our offense, specifically, the part of the running game that gets tough yards inside the red zone and in the 4th quarter when you need to protect your lead. I am not convinced that the ZBS is the best way to go, but thinking we will probably stay with it, IMO we should beef up our oline and RB's. Slaton was more than we could have wished for last year, but I believe he could use some help. I am not sure of the status of C. Brown, but K. Moreno was created to be the big back in a ZBS. He is quicker than fast and has great vision. If he fell to us and our guys thought he was the BPA I would not recommend we pass on him unless we can trade down profitably.

Likewise, Mark Sanchez might fall to us and if he is a proper fit for the WCO could we possibly pass on him? If someone wants him more than we do, I could sure see us making a trade down and picking up some offensive linemen. like a center and a RG or RT, figuring to move Eric Winston to guard. I don't see us picking up a roadgrading RG like Duke Robinson or Herman Johnson but maybe there is someone who can play the ZBS.

The one player who might fall to us that could change our whole game plan is Percy Harvin. He is a great slot receiver type and why couldn't we run the 'wildcat' outselves. He made most of his yards from the RB position so that makes all kinds of options that would throw fear into the opposing DC.

The good news from this draft is that several good people will fall to us this year and we must think outside the box.
