Santos was good from 30 for the game winning FG with no time left.

Final Score:

Bears 23, Texans 20

-------------------------------------------------

Once again, the Texans had their chances. They did score 20 pts on the road but somehow found a way to lose it in the 4th qtr.

The stats are kinda even with the Bears having the big edge in rushing (281 yards!) and the Texans having the edge in passing (237 yards). Obviously, the defense needs to work on their run game.

Their growth curve is happening painfully slow at this point in time. There were some bright spots. Pitre. Pierce when he wasn't coughing up the ball. Some players just plain suck and the staff really should be looking to drill into the depth chart to find something/anything better.

It'll get tougher when the Chargers come to town next week and are a 7 pt. favorite. After that, it's a road game with the improving Jags....

Each of these three games have had very clear pathways to victories. Generally have the feeling this year's Texans are overall better than last year's even if the record may not reflect it. Regardless, they are every bit their 0-2-1 record and have that tie in part because of a missed field goal by a since-cut Colts kicker.

Like last year, I don't think the front office and ownership are evaluating this season based on record. This is not a competitive team and never was going to be in 2022.

The evaluation of Mills though continues to give clarity that he is not the long-term starter. Still just September of course, but easy to project the team looking for a new QB near the top of the 2023 draft.
