![]() So I noticed you dug up this old thread after months of silence back in November. Any reason you didn't dig it up again lately? Perhaps... -(NFL leading 22 ints), -Missed zero games (you were big on that) but has a 38 year old shoulder that gave out half way through the season leading to an epic collapse with the NFL's easiest schedule (2 TD and 9 INT in the last 5 games). -Enough Pick 6's this year to start at QB for LSU -probably got his coach fired and made Jets fans miss Chad Pennington |

I guess It's easy to fall in love with an older player based on what they've done before. We did it with Colvin, Molden, and Green. I'm glad we didn't do it with Favre. It made no sense. Schaub is pleanty good enough to take us a long way if we surround him with more good players. And his best years should still be ahead of him.
By the way, if Favre retires now, how do the Jets know he really means it? |

I notice Mussop had nothing to say.
Luckily a few of Favre's teammates did. Maybe we can take theirs as the final word for whether Favre would have been a good pick-up for us this year. From Thomas Jones - "The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it. You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair]." ... A veteran Jets player, quoted anonymously by Newsday, described Favre as a "distant" teammate who, when at the Jets' practice facility, spent his down time away from teammates in an office specially designated for him. "There was a lot of resentment in the room about him. He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone." Sounds like our front office was smart to stay well away from Favre, especially if they wanted to keep their job. |
