Love him or hate him, John Madden is putting his Maddencruiser in mothballs and calling it a career. Word is that Cris Collinsworth will be his replacement opposite Al Michaels in the Sunday Night booth. I don't believe Madden ever did a Texans game because we were never on MNF or SNF at the time Madden had those jobs.
He might be a year or two past his prime but at least he didn't stay around after he was blatantly unintelligible the way Pat Summerall did. Or a certain Astros broadcaster I could mention. |

Oh he should have gone a few years ago IMO. He nevered warmed up to Al Micheals and always seeemed to be mailing it in on the Monday night show.
And Milo is not near as bad as Harry Carrey was when he stopped being on the air. But I will say he is starting to sound real old.

It was only a preseason game, but didn't Madden do the Hall of Fame Game in the Texans' first season?

Right you are, sir! I went back and checked. Al Michaels did the HOF game and kept refering to us as the "Houston Texas".

Hockey-boy probably thought you really do get 6 points for FGs ("I keek a TD"). One thing he knew for sure was that the Texans were idiots when they didn't draft his SoCal hero, little Reggie.

I always liked John Madden, and some of his off the wall comments, very entertaining, knowledgeable, and likely hard to replace. He gave a lot of good years to football. Guess we'll see how Collinsworth and Michaels do. Not sure how or why Milo still does his gig, guess just hard to quit and hard to tell him to quit. Lot of the newer announcers are not as entertaikning as the previous generation of announcers JMHO.
