Bucs bring the ensuing kickoff back to their 20. Buc's ball.

-----------------------------------

Deep pass to Murphy broken up by JJo, inc.

Sims, on the delay, gets 5. 3rd and 5 coming up.

Pass to Evan off the mark, inc. Bucs will have to punt.

Shorts fields the punt and runs out of bounds for a short gain but flags are down. KJ2 was holding so back it up. Ball ends up at the Texan 23.

Bullock's 19-yarder is good.

Texans 19, Bucs 9

1:12 left in the game.

A W is a W. The new Guard on the left side seemed to play pretty well. Hopefully Brooks isn't in too bad of shape. Thought Mallett played pretty well. WR's had another 3-4 drops, and that bonehead play by Washington.......

Out of town last so week missed the game and some say that Jonathon Joseph played poorly but he was strong today, and shows why solid corners are very valuable and get paid well. He was our MVP on defense today IMO.
Did Mallet throw the ball downfield and deep once today ?

Do you recall the last decade where we started a drive on the opponent's end of the field?

We're decent at getting stops but we aren't much at getting sacks or turnovers so far. The defense isn't terrible. The special teams are gawdawful other than Lechler. The offense needs to improve just to reach "inconsistent". Yet they are tied for first in the AFC South at 1-2, so I won't give up on them yet but they look incredibly ordinary, at best.

This team needs improvement every week if they want to have a shot at a winning record or to make the playoffs. The team I saw today and the previous two games was ungelled, dull and not working with each other very well. Both the Texan's run game and the passing game had their moments but there was not enough of these moments if they want to be competitive with the big boys...

----------------------------------

Wondering when they are going to let Mallett take a 7-step drop and fire a 30-40 yard bullet or better yet, put some air under it and heave it 60 yards down the field.... The guy has the arm and they should be testing it at least a couple times per game. Pass blocking concerns? Jeez, take a gamble every now and then... OB seems content to let Mallett run the ball control passing game but some diversity (besides the run game) would certainly help the cause..... It'll keep the opposing team's LBs from immediately blowing up the RB's on short passes...

-----------------------------------

Early line vs. Atlanta = Falcons by 6

Could use Foster in this game..... Brown, too.... Falcons look much improved....

I'm surprised the spread is not bigger, and it may be by KO next Sunday ?
I don't know what to think of their win in Arlington yesterday but 39 point is a lot of offense. Is the Dallas D that bad or is the ATL O that good ? Will the Texans put Jonathon J. alone without help on Julio Jones ?
And they gave up a lot to a Dallas offense without its 2 best players ?

Yep, I expect it to go up. Already 6.5 in a couple of places... The number "7" is a key number so it will probably settle around 7 plus/minus the half point...

I didn't watch the game but it looks like Dallas got their 28 pts in the 1st half so looks like the Falcons made a half time adjustment and shut them out the rest of the way... The Falcon defense can be scored upon - their defense ranks 24th in yds/game and 16th in pts/game. But can the Texan offense take advantage and not look totally incompetent?

QB Matt Ryan is leaning on Julio Jones heavily in the passing game so containing him is obviously priority #1. But they have to do it without ignoring the other weapons. RB Devonta Freeman had an "Alfred Blue-like" day against the Cowboys rushing for 141 yards on 30 carries with 3 TDs.

Frankly, this one doesn't look very good for the Texans... If they have any chance of winning, this might be one of those games where the Texans have to play clean, win the turnover battle by 2+ and/or hope they catch the Falcons feeling fat and sassy because they are 3-0.....

Johnathan Joseph was targeted 12 times. Only two completions for 24 yards. 18 was the long. Also had team high 5 pass deflections. #Texans

Great win yesterday. They didn't play great, but they ran the ball and they were fantastic on 3rd down defense. Those are two musts when you are a mediocre football team attempting to masquerade as a playoff team.

I don't think Atlanta is that great. The Cowboys are a team built on Offense without their 2 best offensive players. Obviously Julio Jones could destroy the Texans by himself, but Atlanta has squeaked by 3 bad teams so far. They are the only defense to make Philly look competent on offense, they held on against the Giants and beat Brandon Weeden yesterday. I think the Falcons are rightly favored, but they are no juggernaut.

Is change afoot? #Texans to workout Nick Novak on Tuesday. http://t.co/YYsKbTVuQT http://t.co/2vwRZth2J8

@AaronWilson_NFLSources say no lock Texans sign K from tryout Giorgio Tavecchio, Kai Forbath, Nick Novak, Chris Boswell, Connor Barth, but open-minded to it

It's time to look, for sure.

Add Chris Boswell to list of kickers trying out with Texans Tuesday. The former Rice kicker was with Texans in 2014 training camp.
