not brett favre. We already have a cheaper version to throw multiple interceptions for us.
Now if you are asking what defense and running game I'd rather have I would say the Jets. Or if you are asking whose schedule I'd rather have, I'd say the Jets. But I still wouldn't touch Brett Favre and his league leading INT total. |

The question remains though, would the Jets be 8 and 3 right now if they had Schaub? Rosenburp?
Nope. |

Favre - 20TDs / 13Ints.
Our QBs - 15TDs / 17Ints. Yeah, I hate it when your QB has more TDs than INTs.

the guy leads the NFL in INTS and we have people lamenting the fact we didn't sign him. Probably the same people who chanted We Want Sage at the dolphins game.

He also leads the #2 scoring offense (25th last year) in the leauge, hasnt missed a game this year and is leading his team to a playoff berth. Yeh what a looser huh? Wish our QB was that big of a looser.

I'll agree with you this wouldn't be the best place or fit for Favre, nor have I ever stated that I wanted him here (and wanting Sage is laughable). I just think the INT argument against Favre doesn't hold much weight. So what if he leads the league in INTs? He has more TDs than INTs, he's tough as hell, knows how to lead, and his teams win. We could only be so lucky to have those sort of tangibles or qualities at QB.

I notice Mussop had nothing to say.
Luckily a few of Favre's teammates did. Maybe we can take theirs as the final word for whether Favre would have been a good pick-up for us this year. From Thomas Jones - "The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it. You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair]." ... A veteran Jets player, quoted anonymously by Newsday, described Favre as a "distant" teammate who, when at the Jets' practice facility, spent his down time away from teammates in an office specially designated for him. "There was a lot of resentment in the room about him. He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone." Sounds like our front office was smart to stay well away from Favre, especially if they wanted to keep their job. |

So I noticed you dug up this old thread after months of silence back in November. Any reason you didn't dig it up again lately? Perhaps... -(NFL leading 22 ints), -Missed zero games (you were big on that) but has a 38 year old shoulder that gave out half way through the season leading to an epic collapse with the NFL's easiest schedule (2 TD and 9 INT in the last 5 games). -Enough Pick 6's this year to start at QB for LSU -probably got his coach fired and made Jets fans miss Chad Pennington |

I guess It's easy to fall in love with an older player based on what they've done before. We did it with Colvin, Molden, and Green. I'm glad we didn't do it with Favre. It made no sense. Schaub is pleanty good enough to take us a long way if we surround him with more good players. And his best years should still be ahead of him.
By the way, if Favre retires now, how do the Jets know he really means it? |
