For as little as we saw anything that really mattered, for the most part, preseason games were a success for the Texans, especially in light of how the regular season ended last year. Record aside (which would have been 4-0 had the team been able to deploy its top kicker in Los Angeles last week), the offense and defense both looked good with improved depth.

It's encouraging as the regular season awaits. Opening at New England is as tough a draw any team could get. Timing is everything though, and perhaps early September is the best time to catch the Patriots.

Cuts this weekend will be intriguing. Realistically, not many spots were up for grabs to begin with, but running back will be interesting, particular waiting to see who makes it through to the practice squad. Foreman's lengthy recovery from last season's injury is certainly complicating matters, and Blue is proving again that he will not go quietly. Some potential depth behind him though.
