Cleveland basically is spending $16m to buy a 2nd round pick in 2018, in exchange giving up a 4th |

Wow!
Brock's huge contract no longer screwing things up but sucks we lose next year's #2 pick..... Still, probably the only decent way to clean the slate.... Romo coming to Houston? |

Sounds like CLE is going to try to spin Brock elsewhere or cut him. They had money to burn this yr and spent it on a 2018 2nd.

The Texans should get a 3 next year for Bouye. That will help some.

Brown's 4th rd pick to #Texans is 1st pick of the round (108 overall). Take the above with a grain of salt - now there are conflicting reports. Last edited by bikerack; 03-09-2017 at 03:50 PM. |

I put this in another thread a month ago. This (paying the Browns) was the only way we were trading Brock. How bad was your initial move when it was a smart move to pay a 2nd round pick to make it go away?
Either way good on Rick Smith for admitting the mistake this quick. Most NFL GMs choose to deny, deny, deny when they screw up. The downside of his admission is that only a GM with absolutely no job security concerns would publicly admit a mistake like this. |

I also wouldn't be totally shocked if JJ privately said something about his willingness to come back from back injury being tied to the team not wasting a year of his remaining career on Brock Osweiller. You can't have QB play that bad and defense that good, without fractures in the locker room. |

McNeck's eating shit in public is about the best thing that can happen in the offseason.

BTW I'm still puzzled why some think McNair would dish out the coin he did for alleged QB specialist O"Brien to be his HC without granting him the authority and expecting him to decide about the teams starting QB ? |

I guess it's official. The Texans traded Brock Osweiler, the horse he road in on, two future horses just in case the first one breaks down from the weight of Osweiler's contract and, in return, the Texans receive a fig leaf of a third-day draft pick since it's against NFL rules to outright sell a player.
Hell of a deal, Rick. Come to think of it, wasn't this the same sort of deal that sent Matt Schaub out of town to Oakland? Just wasn't as lopsided. Maybe Rick has found his niche in this league. Now watch us overpay for Romo because, if we don't get him, who's next? Kaepernick? Cutler? Rumor has it, the Browns think Ozzie can be flipped for another draft pick, shaving another $6 million or so off the amount write-off and add another warm body for the rebuild. Some argued a second-rounder was too big a sacrifice for Houston but a) it's not until 2018 so the value is less than obvious and b) anyone who has tracked the Texans' record of second round picks knows Rick would have only screwed it up anyway. Assuming the Texans will be a better than .500 team this coming year, that pick is likely to be somewhere around #50 or lower. Last edited by HPF Bob; 03-10-2017 at 12:52 AM. |
