Saddled is the key word. Like I said when this thread was active, the only thing worse than being bad is being bad and committed. And we are bad at QB and we are committed to him. Our only hope at QB improvement is Brock getting better.

Did we screw up big-time with the FA acquisition of BO ? It sure is looking that way, but it's still better than giving up numerous Draft picks including multiple first round picks like some teams do and have their young QB bust.
And it's guaranteed money for just 2 years and we could actually bail on BO even before then if we elected to do so. Don't go wobbly on me Barrret, it's not the end of the world.

Being smarter than the stupid teams that mortgage the future for a QB gets you mediocre. We are already there. And I really don't see how wasting 2 years and a coach on Brock is somehow okay, since we won't waste a 3rd year. Maybe we should have spent more effort evaluating him and less figuring out how to hurt ourselves the least when we screwed up. Or maybe we should have even let the HC meet him.

Bortles puts up huge stats in the fourth quarters of games. Now, if Bortles were doing that while leading fourth-quarter comeback wins, it would be one thing. But the Jaguars are 10-26 in Bortles’ 36 career starts, and Bortles has engineered just five game-winning drives in his three NFL seasons.

I'll still take Hopkins over the entire Jacksonville skill group, even if BO is doing his best to ruin Hopkins (when Weeded/Yates/Hoyer/Mallett couldn't).

Did not say it was OK, but I do say spending McNairs money is better than using Draft picks on an untested QB. It's not your money or my money, Bob McNair is a billionaire so what's a few tens of millions for a QB even if he busts.
We still have all of our Draft picks intact and if we wanted we could use our first round pick on a QB in the 2017 Draft. On the other hand a team like the LA Rams can't do that since they've invested several several years of first round picks on some guy named Goff who might not be an NFL QB.
It's looking like you are right in saying that the Texans failed in their evaluation of BO, but atleast they tried to upgrade the QB position.

I am truly glad that we tried for a QB after a few years of not trying. Nobody will be right all the time, but you will never be right without trying. Hopefully Brock turns things around in coming weeks.
