Kubiak confirmed that his thinking was for TJ to take the shots downfield because Reed was playing the middle of the field. He said that TJ was not doing enough to look the coverage off.
I noticed that on the replay of the AJ interception. Yates "tried" to look Reed off but he gave it only a minor glance before going back to AJ. That wouldn't be enough to fool an aging veteran like Ed Reed.
