The only problem is, while waiting around for some top notch free agent to suddenly and inexplicably become "reasonable," everyone may be signed with other teams. I don't want the Texans waiting around for something that is not realistically going to happen and then ending up with either nothing or low end JAGs.

IMO they offered Weddle in the 6MM to 7MM range, which forced the Chargers into the overpayment. I think the Texans wanted Weddle and a top 5 CB. But once Weddle got so high they backed off, why? IMO, it's because if you are going to overpay someone, overpay Aso or Joseph, not Weddle. And I think the Texans figured that out also.
