Seems like there were 2 storylines on Spencer. One was that he was doing all he could but his recovery was just slow going. On the other hand, there were rumors that Spencer wasn't doing all he could. Lance Zierlein repeatedly said that one of the primary reasons Spencer's rehab was so slow going was because he never lost the weight necessary to properly rehab and
Spencer bore at least a fair amount of the blame for his inability to recover. Looks like that may have been true.
