I don't think Favre is very good, but Minnesota is thinking "we have sage rosenfels as our starting QB."

If it happens, sucks for Sage. Good guy, can't catch a break anywhere he goes.....

I hope Farve goes away, for good, although, at least it gives us some football stuff to read about during this very, very, slow period.

If Favre is the starter I wonder if Sage makes it out of training camp. I would think they'd go Jackson as the backup since he is a better long term option. What kind of bonus money did Sage get? Can they cut him without a huge hit? He may end up our backup QB again.

Not sure how it was structured, but I remember something like a 2 or 3 yr extension, worth about $9MM or so....don't remember guarrantee's/bonuses.

Sage signed a two-year extension (meaning he was already signed for 2009 and the Vikes modified the deal to include 2010 and 2011). The deal was reported for $9 million. His base salaries over those three seasons total $7.6 million, so I'm guessing his bonus was $1.4 million, which would accelerate in full to this year's cap if the Vikings cut him.

Interesting scenario actually... I wonder if the Vikes did cut him (which I doubt even with Favre and Tarvaris on board), he could in theory re-sign with the Texans and compete with Dan Orlovsky as the #2. Who knows, maybe Sage pulls a Quinn Gray if Favre is added?

It's probably all moot since there are now reports that Favre is saying he'll remain retired.

I am absolutely sick of hearing about this guy every time, this time of year. I think he just can't stand to give up the glory role.
