Not this year but interesting to ponder:
Goodell wants to put a team in London. The Jaguars are playing there for the fourth straight year. The Jaguars new ownership is not, I believe, American-born. Could this all be a warm-up act to make the Jaguars a full-time NFL London franchise? If so, I could easily see moving the Dolphins to the AFC South and putting the London team in the AFC East with Buffalo, New England and the Jets. The only sensible way for that to work would be to schedule the London team with, say, four weeks of home games then four weeks of away games so the team isn't destroyed by all the time zone travel. Most teams visiting London could get their bye week the following week. I think the London franchise would also need some sort of facility for players to stay and train while on their road swing, perhaps one of the training camp sites the other teams use. Personally, I don't want to see this but this could be exactly where Goodell is headed and he just wants to ease it in gradually in order to lessen the resistance. |
