Yes, the ball did go downfield again, even if it didn't work. That coincided with when the running game started to work again. But then we just stopped running it and found new ways to lose.

The Texans just aren't a very well coached football team. We have a solid scheme and talent, but nobody to lead them. The head coach cannot be a cardboard cutout like Jim Caldwell unless the QB is Peyton Manning. We have a whole bunch of nice guys. That is different than good or bad. You don't need criminals to win football games, but you do need someone who will do what it takes. Someone with an ego big enough that they will cut anyone's heart out to win (an ego big enough to publicly endorse Uggs even).

We are the Chargers from earlier this decade. Plenty of talent, plenty of success offensively and defensively, lots of success, but when it comes down to it, never going to win when it counts. I wonder if Kubiak will get to stick around through as many 9-12 win seasons as Norv Turner did. That way he can finish wasting AJ like Norv wasted LT.

I see your point but going balls-to-the-wall for 4 quarters for essentially nothing but the experience? For their sake, hopefully no one got injured....I believe the Texans were even substituting towards the end. There were players - Ball/Routt/Reed/Caldwell held out to get healthy - this was not a Texans team going all in.....

But by applying his clairvoyant skills, could not the Chuckster produce a monetary consolation for himself by way of some well placed wagers ?

I think Ruud and Reed where out there b/c Dobbins and Sharpton got hurt. Kuibak said in his post-game presser that he's very concerned about those two.

1-3 over the last four games to surrender the #1 seed is a slow, painful choke. I'm used to Houston teams just choking over a half, maybe a half plus overtime.

I'm starting to think Schaub is the white Warren Moon... piles up good stats but somehow manages to stink when he's needed most. Looks like we are hosting the Bagels for the second straight year then probably getting blown out in Foxboro. Bagels went on a 7-1 run to close the season so maybe they get their revenge this year.

Losing in NE is going to suck really, really bad. As if Boston sports fans weren't insufferable enough.

I've been miserable all day and didn't think it could get worse, than I remembered that at least I'm not a cowboys fan.

Amen to that. Although those idiots have been tethered to Romo for years. Romo and Schaub have very different sets of problems but I wonder if we're in for something similar in the upcoming years.

But hey, we WILL have a bigger video display next year. Those H.E.B. commercials will be super clear.

True. I'm still upset over the last video screen update to add additional BLINDING advertisements MID-GAME.

Unrelated, should the Texans offense find its head out of its ass on Saturday to win, they play the late Sunday game at New England the following week. The extra day of rest is probably meaningless to the Patriots, but could be very helpful to the Texans.

ETA - Texans are early favorites, -4.5.

The team's manifest interest in selling shit to their fans rather than providing a whole football experience was a huge reason why I no longer contribute to the McNair Charity Fund. But we needn't get into that again.

while i still feel like the texans should win the game this week, after watching them the last month i really only give them a 50/50 shot. i think that the new england game really destroyed schaub's psyche

I'm particularly fond of the giant advertisements I mean the tribute to OUTSTANDING community leaders in left field that mars the once lovely view of downtown. But that's not an issue that I will have to grapple with going forward, either.
