Default Official Texans vs. Titans Game Thread, 10/30/2022

The 4-2 Tennessee Titans come to town this Sunday to take on the 1-4-1 Texans in an afternoon game on CBS. The Titans beat the Colts last week for the second time this year 19-10 on the strength of a pick 6 and four Randy Bullock FGs - they had no offensive TDs. RB Derrick Henry was 30/128, 4.3 avg. in the game. Expect to see a lot of Henry as QB Ryan Tannehill is listed as questionable for the upcoming game. If Tannehill can't go, rookie Malik Willis (Liberty) will probably get the nod. WR Robert Woods (20/230, 1 TD) is the goto receiver in the Titan offense but I'm expecting a total ground and pound against the poor Texan run defense. The Titan defense is rated 29th vs. the pass (yds/att) and 16th vs. the run (ypc).

The Texans need to address their weaknesses against the run if they hope to have a chance in this one. Offensively, they could have success in the passing game but will have to play a clean game and have a good time of possession to keep their defense on the bench. Otherwise, the defense will get worn out by the 4th qtr and it will be a repeat of last week's Raider game.

Texans will have to do a quick turn around after the game for Thursday night football when the badass Philadelphia Eagles come to town.

The division leading Titans only favored by 2 - 21/2 ? Fooled me.

I am in an NFL pickem ATS contest at a gambling website. 46 people (77.97%) are laying the points and taking the Titans, 13 people (22.03%) are taking the Texans - by far the most lopsided of the NFL picks this week.

----------------------------------------------------

Notes from Walterfootball.com late picks:

Quote:
SATURDAY NOTES: Two major pieces of injury news for the Titans: First, their best player, (DT) Jeffery Simmons, failed to practice all week. Second, Ryan Tannehill may not play after being downgraded in practice on Friday. If Tannehill starts, I like the Texans to cover as long as we're getting +3 or more. If it's Malik Willis, I would almost consider the Titans because they'll have a more conservative game plan and just ram the ball down Houston's throat.
---------------------------------------------------

Texans are 3-3 ATS, Titans are 4-2 ATS.

---------------------------------------------------

Go Astros - can't go to Philly down 0-2......

Bullock misses a 48 yard FG for the Titans on their first possession.

Henry got loose for 41 but the Texans held them to a FG try.

Mills throws and INT in Titan territory but the Texans hold. Titans punt and penalties back the Texans up to their own 6 yard line. Texans ball.

No score.

Texans go backwards and have to punt.

Titans fair catch at their 6.

1:22 left in the 1st qtr.

Awesome. Nelson with the INT. Runs it back to the Titan 11.

Big opportunity for the Texans here....
