Default Official Texans @ Jaguars Game Thread, 12/19/2021

The 2-11 Houston Texans head to Jacksonville this Sunday to take on the 2-11 Jags in an early game. The Texans are coming off a 33-13 home loss to the Seahawks, the Jags are coming off a 20-0 road loss to the Titans. The Texans won the initial meeting between the two in Week 1, 37-21 (Ah, for the good ol' days when the Texans could score 30+).

The Jags rookie QB Trevor Lawrence is having a rough go with a bad team. His stats: 271/476, 2735 yards, 58.2% completion , 9 TDs, 14 INTs, 68.9 rating. RB James Robinson is having a decent year - 682 yards, 4.8 avg, 7 TDs. Their top 2 wide receivers are Marvin Jones, Jr. (610 yds, 11.3 avg., 3 TDs) and Laviska Chenault (505 yards, 9.7 avg, 0 TDs).

Jags Head Coach Urban Meyer is no more. This might inspire the Jags to play loose and unfettered. I like the Jags here.

The afternoon Saturday game, Las Vegas @ Cleveland (NFLN) has been moved to Monday 4 pm CST.

Seattle @ LA Rams (FOX) and Washington @ Philadelphia (FOX) have both been moved to Tuesday (Dec 21) at 6 pm. Not sure how FOX is going to show both at the same time unless they farm one out to FS1..... The other scenario is designated regions get the game they figure the populace will like the best....

Thank the POS PCR test for these changes....

Did not get to watch that game last night since our cable provider U-Verse dropped the NFL-Net a couple years ago. Not surprised the Colts won and they might be that team in this years NFL P/Os that nobody wants to play.
Very intrigued with todays game in Jacksonville.

I was thinking a couple of weeks ago about when the last time the Texans ran back a kick of any kind and I literally couldn't remember. Turns out the last kickoff return was back in 2009.

Jags kickoff and Tremon Smith runs it back 98 yards for a Texan TD!

Texans 14, Jags 3

Who is Tremon Smith? #24 for the Texans, 5'11", 190 lb. DB from Central Arkansas. 4th year in the league - first 3 with Chiefs, Eagles and Colts.

That concludes today's episode of "Meet the Texans".
