Default Richard Justice is right about this - "Reggie Bush is a bust."

This season, he was about the sixth- or seventh-most important weapon in the New Orleans offense. Even with so much talent that the Saints could dictate favorable matchups, Bush was seldom a factor.
**
He finished tied with Ryan Moats for 49th in the NFL in regular-season rushing yards and was 128th in receiving yards. As for those big plays, Bush had only five that went for more than 20 yards.
**
Still, fans love him. His jersey is a best-seller in New Orleans. He's involved in an array of charitable endeavors and has a string of endorsements. Bush speaks movingly of his love of New Orleans and its rebuilding efforts. There's also that romance with Kim Kardashian.

Little Reggie is kinda like his porn-star girlfriend or Paris Hilton, he's famous
for being famous.

I think it's obvious who won the Mario/Bush/Vince debate.

Bush is going to the Super Bowl and Vince has been to two Pro Bowls but, in terms of overall production, Mario has stayed on the field and been a force on the defense. The thing is, I don't see Bush getting any better and Vince is limited because he'll never be a classic thrower. Mario still has room to get better.

What's even more amazing than the infallible Jesus Bush being a niche player in the NFL is the Saints managing to whiff on the #2 overall pick and subsequently make 2 NFCCG and 1 SB appearance in 4 years.

I wouldn't agree it's amazing, but it IS interesting. I have two comments on this. One, New Orleans was not all that depleted of talent the year they got Bush--they were just a team without much talent at the quarterback position. Since then, they have been operating with one of the top three QB's in the league, who they lucked into because nobody else was willing to take a chance on him after his injury problems. If they had been led by a mediocre or worse QB this year, they very well might not have even made the playoffs. Actually, a bit of the same thing happened to us this year when we picked up Pollard, who MAY turn out to be more valuable to us than any of this year's draft picks except Cushing.

Second, it shows that too much attention is payed to the first round of the draft. Stars are available all over the draft and even sometimes on the waver wire.

Plus Hurricane Katrina played a big role in that team not playing up to its talent.

Regardless of whether the fans like him and buy his shirts or what he does in the community, I'd be shocked if the Saints excercise the option on Bush next year. IMO, he's in for a huge pay cut wherever he ends up.
