Default 2010 Mock draft

I know I told Keith I would have one of these up sooner but better late than never

NFLDraftSite.com has a new 2010 7 rounder

They have us taking
1st Greg Hardy DE 6'5" 255 Mississippi
2nd Jermaine Cunningham DE 6'3" 255 Florida
3rd P.J. Mahone CB 5'11" 201 Bowling Green
4th A.J. Wallace CB 6'1" 188 Penn State
5th Robert Johnson S 6'3" 190 Utah
6th Freddie Barnes WR 6'2" 212 Bowling Green
7th Carl Moore WR 6'4" 220 Florida

Ok after this years draft and FA signings do you see us going 2 DEs to start? I don't either.

So Cherry Pick time

1st Sean Weatherspoon OLB 6'1" 232 Missouri Roy, we both like this guy as our new WILL in 2010.
2nd LeGarrette Blount RB 6'2" 235 Oregon
3rd Keiland Williams RB 6'0" 226 LSU
4th Dan Williams DT 6'3" 312 Tennessee
5th A.J. Trump OC 6'3" 300 Miami
6th Tony Pike QB 6'6" 225 Cincinnati
7th Zoltan Mesko P 6'4" 242 Michigan

Or the always complaining about our draft amount of impact the new player can make mock

1st C.J. Spiller RB 5'11" 190 Clemson
2nd Javarris James RB 6'0" 211 Miami
3rd Keiland Williams RB 6'0" 226 LSU
4th James Aldridge RB 6'0" 222 Notre Dame
5th Ben Tate RB 5'11" 211 Auburn
6th Mikell Simpson RB 6'1" 197 Virginia
7th Andre Dixon RB 6'1" 208 Connecticut

Why do I do these mocks? So I can see who is who and start finding guys to watch on Saturdays.

So your turn Mock this.

Well, it is quite the undertaking to project who will be considered as top draft picks in next years draft this early. Also, since we don't know which underclassmen will be declaring, that makes this even more difficult. Then there is trying to determine team needs and any coaching changes. Therefore, I'm just going to give you my preliminary My Guys draft board. I'll let the college season play out before getting too serious about this. This includes underclassmen that I expect will be coming out in this draft.

1 Taylor Mays FS Southern California 6' 3" 230
2 Sean Weatherspoon OLB Missouri 6' 1" 235
3 Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma 6' 4" 295
4 Jonathan Dwyer RB Georgia Tech 5' 11" 228
5 Reshad Jones FS Georgia 6' 2" 205
6 Eric Berry SS Tennessee 5' 11" 195
7 Kam Chancellor FS Virginia Tech 6' 4" 224
8 Vince Oghobaase DT Duke 6' 6" 310
9 Dan LeFevour QB Central Michigan 6' 3" 228
10 Jared Odrick DT Penn State 6' 5" 308
11 Mike Williams WR Syracuse 6' 2" 205
12 Arrelious Benn WR Illinois 6' 2" 214
13 Marvin Austin DT North Carolina 6' 3" 305
14 Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State 6' 2" 210
15 Quan Sturdivant OLB North Carolina 6' 2" 232
16 Stafon Johnson RB Southern California 5' 11" 215
17 Luthur Brown OLB Southern California 6' 2" 235

Jeeeeezzz! I would like to wait til TC at least, so we can start to see where the needs are going to be. You know with the improvement in the LB's, we may get better play out of our existing safeties. And with our winning record this year (it says here), we won't be in any position to draft any of the really big time safeties.

Walters has dated May 24th. sorry if this one is already mentioned, but I am bored.

Quote:
#20 Earl Thomas, FS, Texas
With Malcolm Jenkins gone, the Texans weren't in position to take a top-tier safety in the 2009 NFL Draft. With that in mind, they may look for one in the 2010 NFL Draft, where there could be four safeties chosen in the first round (Eric Berry, Taylor Mays, Reshad Jones, Earl Thomas).

#52 Mike Johnson, G, Alabama
The Texans don't have many needs, but one area that they'll need to address soon is the interior of their offensive line.

84 Ekom Udofia, DT, Stanford
The Texans really could use a nose tackle next to Amobi Okoye to help out against the run.
Not sure I would complain right now about this group. FS is a position us blogger's think the team needs to upgrade, adding another SEC O' lineman is never a bad idea, and a 322 lbs NT appears on paper to be a big need.

Yeah, the LBs and Ss didn't look so great, huh?

I just hope that Weatherspoon is still on the board when we pick. Taylor Mays is a top 5 guy like Sean Taylor.

7th Zoltan Mesko P 6'4" 242 Michigan
Thought I try a new cherry pick after the spring practices.

1st Myron Lewis CB 6'2" 200 Vanderbilt
2nd Vince Oghobaase DT 6'6" 312 Duke former local HS player
3rd Chris Brown RB 5'11" 206 Oklahoma
4th Dan Williams Kellen Heard DT 6'6" 330 Texas A&M
5th Andrew Sendejo CB 6'2" 210 Rice
6th Boo Robinson DT 6'2" 326 Wake Forest
7th Blaze Soares ILB 6'1" 230 Hawaii

In 2010 Frank Bush and Ast HC Defense Bill Kollar develop a new defense designed to stop the run.

M.Williams, A.Smith, K.Heard, V Oghobaase, A.Okoye, C. Barwin

B Cushing, D.Ryans,

M Lewis, G Quinn, A Molden

A 6-2-3

The front line is anchored by 2 mammoth NT and 2 quick DTs, with 2 explosive DEs. It is designed to put 4 players in the back field on every play. All pass receivers are covered with a pressed man to man, with the idea that no will be allowed off the line.

Defense is considered the best new defense since the 3-4 was devised.

Don't you hate the off season.

Walters Updated again, not that these mean anything, but again it's slow, and the college season will be starting soon. I am getting tired of watching Big 10 reruns from last season.

Here's is Walter's Latest update: Tuesday, July 21, 2009 - Major Updates

Quote:
24. Houston Texans: Reshad Jones, FS, Georgia
With Malcolm Jenkins gone, the Texans weren't in position to take a top-tier safety in the 2009 NFL Draft. With that in mind, they may look for one in the 2010 NFL Draft, where there potentially could be four safeties chosen in the first round (Eric Berry, Taylor Mays, Reshad Jones, Earl Thomas).

Pick change; previously Earl Thomas, FS

55. Houston Texans: Mike Johnson, G, Alabama
The Texans don't have many needs, but one area that they'll need to address soon is the interior of their offensive line.

87. Houston Texans: Ekom Udofia, DT, Stanford
The Texans really could use a nose tackle next to Amobi Okoye to help out against the run.
Not a bad mock:

Let's try to find a RG, RB, NT, WLB, CB, FS, and SS and I will be happy. It is way too early to try to figure out who will be available in which round.

Distilling that down, I would be happy with a NT and a couple of safeties, the rest would be icing on the cake, at least right now anyway.
