Default Can the Texans Afford to go 0-3? [...0-4? ...0-5? ...0-##?]

I realize that the season won't be lost if they do, but honestly I don't think they can. If they come into the first home game with an 0-3 record I think the atmosphere will be much more subdued that it usually is. On the other hand, if they can find a way to win this weekend in Jax, I think the place is rocking for the colts game and they win. In my opinion, the game this weekend is probably going to be the most important game of the season.

Thoughts?

Depends on what your expectations were. Playoffs? Not sure there's much of a chance at 0-3. An 8-8 season? There's a chance all those home games will give us some momentum.

Gotta fix some potholes we have on both sides of the street though.

that is true. we will have the advantage of lots of home games in a row. that should help.

This is a huge game, but being 0-3 is not the end some are implying. (not implying cadams is saying this). I watched the Oilers go 0-4, and then win 12 straight. Now this team does not have that kind of talent, but last year the Giants had a slow start.

If a person looked at the schedule and did not think that the first month and a half was going to be a bitch, then they were wearing battle red glasses that are to thick. If this team starts 0-4 and then does not implode like the Capers team did, then Kubiak has won the battle. And after one more draft and next years much easier schedule then we should be a much improved team.

Fans get impatient, that is what they do, even I get that way. So let's go out and beat the Jags, they are beatable right now, then let's rock the stadium and beat the beat up Colts.

I still think they are going to end up 8-8.

Due to the addition of Gibbs among other things, they will start off slow and come on like gang busters the second half of the season.

...................but it will probably be too little too late once again.

I dunno, what's Gibbs got to do with the performance of the DLine or Schaub ?
It would be great, go a long ways to getting some redemption for the first 2 games and maybe salvaging a season which is starting out to be very disappointing. But I just don't have any confidance in them until they give me reason to have some. I sure hope they surprise me this weekend !

!
for reals?

gibbs coaches the o'line. schaub can either have time to throw and be decent or scramble to make plays and totally suck all based on whether gibbs is teaching well enough. and he's probably the most familiar with schaub as a player...so...a lot.

if gibbs' system works and the o'line stays on the field for long drives that means the d'line can get a good rest and play with energy throughout the game.

i'm just saying....he's a coach. he's got something to do with it.

I dunno, but I seem to recall that Schaub was shaky, inaccurate, acting stressed before the rush really came. That goes for both games.
Of course after the Texans were out of it and had fallen behind the roof fell in and the pass rush was coming full tilt.

you asked what gibbs had to do with the performances of schaub and the d'line, right? not how schaub performed...yea, he was pretty much all over the place both games (and the cowboys, just to dig in a little).

to be fair, if we want to examine coaching and what coaching is affecting which players i think we should take a look at kid-shanahan: the young, inexperienced QB coach/OC. i don't think it takes a rocket scientist to tell between him, kubiak, and gibbs he probably is just riding shotgun but he's still accountable for the inept show of offense.

The Texans may very well be looking at a four win season.

Ask yourself this: who is closer to winning a Super Bowl right now, the Texans or David Carr?

*vomits*

I think we're going to beat the Colts this Sunday. I really do.

I see exponential progress each week... the first 3 games went: terrible --> bad --> not too bad.

Time for a "good" game (on both sides of the ball)....

No, I meant total team effort.

The defense was arguably good 1st half @ Jax, 2nd half @ Titans....

to that, i had an idea i didn't know if i should go through with or not:

my idea is to make a poster, pretty big one, of a heart with a zero on one side and a ten on the other. i could affix an arrow on a swivel and point it anywhere in between based on how much texans' heart and fire the team is showing. if they come out klunking like at pittsburgh i'd put it just barely at 1...if they actually showed up to the game and played like in jacksonville it would probably get a 5 or 6.

what do you think?

Kinda like a suckmeter? Eheh, one end of the scale "sucked", the other end - "didn't suck"?

I dunno, I sure wish they'd start doing a little winning. Some fans can get really stupid when they are losing. It's a real challenge to find intelligence and rational thinking on some of the blogs/messageboards I frequent after losses. I think I'll just start taking care of some of the house/yard work I've been putting off....

haha, yard work?! geez, it must be a terrible idea if it's forcing you to yard work! i'll just scrap that...

what about a giant, working panic button? if we're 0-5 for miami or 0-6 for detriot that'll probably be happening...
