Default Texans Bringing in Sims-Walker

Former Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker is scheduled to work out Wednesday for the receiver-needy Houston Texans. -- Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter)

Kids not look good in the OTA's or just want some additional vets in the mix?

If he's cheap.....why not?

Kubs said a few weeks ago that he still wanted to look at some more vets, so I expected them to bring in some guys. Due Diligence and all.

I also don't think Sims-Walkers has the health to make him worth signing. He has had left knee issues going back to college.

I expect to see a few more vets coming through here.

Sounds like Justin Forsett , RB coming in for tryout tomorrow as well. Could be a few vets signed after June 1 when don't impact compensatory picks.

I am all for bringing in any cheap wr vet. Then I'll hope that our young guys beat the vets out for roster spots.

Jacksonville had one of the worst if not the absolute worst WR corps in the NFL last year and they don't want this guy but we bring him in ? Yea, we may have some issues at WR this year.

We had the worst secondary in the NFL and cut Tramon Williams who then started for the Packers and won the superbowl as part of the best secondary in the NFL. Coaching, franchise stability, and surrounding talent can make or break a guy. Especially when you are a WR trying to catch passes from Blaine Gabbert. Or look at Deon Branch. Great in NE, worthless in Seattle, and then very good in NE again.

I hope we sign this guy cheap, and then I hope he is then beat out by a rookie who is better than we could imagine, or I hope he is a perfect fit in our offense and for our franchise. But either way I won't fault anyone for not succeeding in Jacksonville. They could ruin anyone.

Outside of AJ and Walter, the Texans' WRs have a collective zero career NFL receptions. That's pretty green. Some other vets who may be in the free agency version of the bargain bin: David Anderson, Jarrett Dillard, Anthony Gonzalez (if he's healthy -- the Pats cut him today after signing him earlier in the offseason).

I'm not ga-ga about either of the two guys we drafted so I'm fine with adding Sims-Walker or any other vet we think can help. We should get a few more to pick from after the June 1st cuts and it wouldn't shock me if a couple more become available just before the start of the season.

The Jags made a lot of WRs high draft choices (and still do) and I could never be sure how much of it was the WRs not being as great as advertised and how much was the QBs not being as good as advertised. A few (like Matt Jones) were clearly reaches but a few of them I thought would be good when they came out of college.

I do think Blackmon will be a beast at the next level. He may not be quite in the league of AJ, Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald but I could easily see him at the next tier.

If they're taking a look at Sims-Walker, who isn't the highest character guy and prone to injury, then they might as well take a look at Braylon Edwards too.

Did Sims-Walker work out today? Lance Zierlein said this morning that it might not happen, possibly due to questions about Sims-Walker's involvement in the incident in March in which his college teammate and good friend Brandon Marshall was accused of punching a woman in the face.

In unrelated news, Blackmon blew a .24 for an aggravated DUI last night in Stillwater. And since Oklahoma has half strength beer, that means he drank appoximately 200 beers. It warms my heart to know that even when things break the Jaguars way and they get a great player, I can still hate everyone associated with Jacksonville. I was worried that with Del Rio out it would get harder to hate them.
