Here we go again, the media touting our beloved Texans.....
From Judge @ CBSSports: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...u-can-book-now Texan Snippet: Wade Phillips improves the Houston defense at least 15 notches in the rankings A year ago, the Texans ranked 30th in team defense and 32nd against the pass, surrendering 24 or more points in 14 of their 16 games. You wonder why they failed to make the playoffs? Start there. Before Phillips started in San Diego in 2004 the Chargers ranked 31st in team defense and were last in their division. A year later, they vaulted to 11th, and the club won its first AFC West title since 1994. Say what you want about Phillips as a head coach, but there are few better defensive coordinators. With his addition, the Texans make the playoffs for the first time in their history.

6 out of 16 teams go to the playoffs in the AFC each year. Some teams seem to get there every year.... You gotcha New England, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Indianapolis, San Diego.... NYJ as of late... There's some improving teams - Texans probably belong in this category. KC is coming on.... Miami and Oakland could surprise. All that makes it really tough to get in the playoffs...
The Texans are just going to have to start beating up on some of these guys. Winning the division would be a good start. Not tripping over the Titans and Jags would also help... |

If Phillips can do for the defense what Kubiak has done for the offense, we have a good chance, finally of making the playoffs. There have been a lot of misfires on the Texans lately on their defensive drafts. The quick establishment of Phillips draft picks will have a lot to do with our success or failure this year.
