Default Is KJ REALLY the problem??

Quote:
Per Rotoworld: Among NFL cornerbacks, only DeAngelo Hall (615) has allowed more receiving yards than Kareem Jackson's 580 this season. Analysis: Opposing QBs are 32-of-63 for 580 yards and four TDs against Jackson and 27-of-46 for 370 yards and three TDs against Glover Quin. The worst offender by far, though, is strong safety Bernard Pollard, who has been burned at a rate of 22-of-29 for 370 yards and seven TDs!
Of course KJ has been absolutely horrendous, but it's not only him. The idiots we have at HC and DC have basically left this kid on an island without quality S help. Factor in the feeble pass rush and mediocre LB play, and it's no wonder the kid is floundering. How these coaches expected him to succeed against the Manning's and Wayne's, etc. just boggles the mind. Yeah, McNair, Kubiak is doing a wonderful job! He should be fired just for the atrocity of a secondary he's created.

A lot of people love Pollard, and I like his toughness, but there's a reason he was available to us. He's one of the worst cover S's around! The guy is continuously out of position and/or late in providing help. Looking at the numbers above, Quin hasn't been much better than KJ. He just hasn't been picked on as much. I assume that's because the opposition thinks Quin is the 'savvy veteran'. LOL.

Do they have a stat on how long our front seven gives opposing QB to pass?

Seems to me, almost anyone in secondary would look bad if opposing QB can often just stand back and wait for receiver to find an opening.

We've been trying to fix our pass rush forever, that is a contributing factor as I view it right now. Probably we have less sacks and less pressures than last year and therefore the worse secondary as a result.

I agree. It's a combination of everything. Poor coaching, schemes, plans, players, effort, coverage, puss rush, soft zones, DLs, LBs, DBs, Ss... You name it. KJ just happens to be the poster boy on the milk carton. It blows my mind we're 10 years into the franchise and are still looking for a pass rush and still looking for quality Safety play. Hell, we'd still be looking for a RB if Foster didn't fall into our lap. And Rubiak can't even figure out how to use him most of the time.... Ugh.

IMO Pollard is a much bigger problem them KJ. I believe KJ is looking like a Chris Dishman his rookie year. And Dishman developed into a Pro Bowler.

My question is how many of the burns being blamed on KJ are the safeties not getting on top?

Also as for the defensive scheme, Bush did not come in here with a defense that was his, IIRC they kinda went with a committee approach, one guys added the line part, Holland added the LB part and Hoke and Rhodes added the coverage schemes.

This defense does not seem to work together well and how much of that has to do with the way it was designed?

I want them to bring in a proven DC to solve this mess.

How about you first answer the question, how many times when he was burned did he fall down or stumble on the play? His inability to keep his feet is his problem, not the pass rush or the safety.

The pass rush and the safety are big problems for the Texans defense, but Jackson's problems are all his.

It's not all KJ's fault, we all know that. But I still contend he's the guy in the secondary with the bullseye and there are only two ways to solve that - either you get him out of the lineup for awhile or he grows up really, really fast.

In the 2010 print edition of "NFL Quarterbacking For Dummies (forward by Vince Young)", KJ's picture is on Page 5 under "note which receiver this guy is covering and throw to him".

Of course we know that KJ is not the ONLY problem. But he definitely is getting toasted. Me personally, I lay the whole thing on whomever is calling the defensive schemes.

Great coaches use what they have and play to their strengths. The blitz schemes are always ill timed, they are not fooling anyone, they continue to line KJ up with the other teams best talent, despite having a horrible camp, they play the worst bend but don't break technique I have ever seen (that's because they keep breaking), and they put all their eggs in a basket with Demeco (they did not have a single back up plan for him). "Oh yeah, lets throw Cush in there, he's a good ol' sure tackler". REALLY?

Frank Bush should have been fired after last week. The team, literally, can't get any worse.

I HATE the titans. Let me emphasize that again "I HATE THE TITANS".

With that said, they are among the league leaders in sacks. Not because they have the best one on one talent at the D-Line position. They have a decent defensive scheme. It doesn't take a star at every position to get consistent pressure. It takes a well organized defensive scheme. We have none. Our scheme exploits Kareem week after week.

Frank Bush needs to be fired.

I totally disagree. Frank Bush runs the defensive schemes his boss tells him to. If we blame anyone for the defensive mess blame Msr. Kubiak. It is him that is afraid the defense will put his precious offense in a bad position, thus vanilla defenses. And....as has been said, when he does allow a blitz, it is so predictable even I can say, "here it comes", and then the offense easily picks it up, with the QB having all day to choose a receiver. If Kubiak would only agree to go back to OC, but of course that will happen with another team, probably the Redskins after he is fired this year.
