Running back Ryan Moats made sure he'll be part of the competition in the Texans' crowded backfield by signing his tender on Wednesday. Moats, a fifth-year restricted free agent, will earn a one-year contract of $1.226 million if he makes the team. Moats, 27, Steve Slaton, Arian Foster and Jeremiah Johnson are running backs who are expected to be joined in the backfield by a high draft choice. Moats, a third-round pick by Philadelphia in 2005, came to the Texans during the 2008 season. |

I'm happy to have him back. He gives good effort when he's in but he just lacks that extra gear to be a feature back.

I'm not too excited about Moats. He is allright, but he is not the RB we are looking for.

I just don't see how he makes us any better. He's just a body as far as I'm concerned. I don't see him making it out of camp if everyone's healthy

Maybe Dennison will see Moats differently and change the boss' mind, but the staff didn't exactly seem to be brimming with confidence in Moats last year, especially when it came to blocking and protecting the ball.

Hopefully he's just camp fodder. Love the guy's spirit, but if we're count on Moats - even in a backup role - we've got some big problems at RB, again!!
