Official Texans vs. Titans Game Thread, 10/30/2022
The 4-2 Tennessee Titans come to town this Sunday to take on the 1-4-1 Texans in an afternoon game on CBS. The Titans beat the Colts last week for the second time this year 19-10 on the strength of a pick 6 and four Randy Bullock FGs - they had no offensive TDs. RB Derrick Henry was 30/128, 4.3 avg. in the game. Expect to see a lot of Henry as QB Ryan Tannehill is listed as questionable for the upcoming game. If Tannehill can't go, rookie Malik Willis (Liberty) will probably get the nod. WR Robert Woods (20/230, 1 TD) is the goto receiver in the Titan offense but I'm expecting a total ground and pound against the poor Texan run defense. The Titan defense is rated 29th vs. the pass (yds/att) and 16th vs. the run (ypc).
The Texans need to address their weaknesses against the run if they hope to have a chance in this one. Offensively, they could have success in the passing game but will have to play a clean game and have a good time of possession to keep their defense on the bench. Otherwise, the defense will get worn out by the 4th qtr and it will be a repeat of last week's Raider game. I am in an NFL pickem ATS contest at a gambling website. 46 people (77.97%) are laying the points and taking the Titans, 13 people (22.03%) are taking the Texans - by far the most lopsided of the NFL picks this week.

Titans fair catch at their 6. 1:22 left in the 1st qtr. ------------------------------------------------------------ Awesome. Nelson with the INT. Runs it back to the Titan 11. Big opportunity for the Texans here....

Nothing working for the Texans and they can't get the TD.
Fairbairn good from 42. Texans 3, Titan 0 10:40 left in the half. ----------------------------------------------- Texans statistically horrible at this point. Example: Mills - 4/9, 11 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 12.0 rating.

Titans drive on down the field. Henry walks in from 1 yard out.
Titans 14, Texans 3 6:31 left in the 3rd qtr. Henry = 21/149, 7.3 avg, 2 TDs 4th qtr is shaping up to be ugly beyond anything seen in the annals of Houston sports history....

Titans 17, Texans 10 --------------------------------------- Onside kick recovered by the Titans. That'll do it. Final score: Titans 17, Texans 10 ---------------------------------------- 4th qtr not the bloodbath I expected - I think Henry was all tuckered out. Texans break 100 yards total - 161. Texan offense made the Titan defense look all-world most of the game. I picked a bad day to quit sniffin' glue.....
