Offseason Free Agents analysis

I was just looking at who we picked up and who we lost as FA this offseason.

Picked up- LB Kevin Bentley (Sea) , RB Chris Brown (Ten), WR Tim Carter (Cle), LB Rosevelt Colvin (NE), S Nick Ferguson (Den), TE Ryan Krause (GB), Chris Myers (Den), CB Jacques Reeves (Dal), LB Chaun Thompson (Cle), CB Jimmy Williams (FA)

Lost - LB Charlie Anderson (Mia), LB Shawn Barber, DB Michael Boulware (Min), LB Danny Clark (NYG), C Mike Flanagan, CB Von Hutchins (Atl), DT Cedric Killings, WR Jerome Mathis, C Steve McKinney, TE Jeb Putzier (Sea)

Probably missed a couple somewhere.

My overall impression right now thru rosy red glasses is these new guys help make us better, faster than we were last year. Hutchins, Clark, and McKinney did contribute last year.

I'm not really expecting much from any of the guys we have added. I consider them pretty much just placeholders. In other words, guys we will replace in the next year or two with draft choices or even get beat out by young guys already on this year's squad.

If we get even one player out of that group who gives us the production we got from Andre Davis last year, I will be very happy.

That being said, if you compare the guys we lost with the new guys, I think as a group the new guys are a bit better. Especially Reeves and Colvin. I hope we don't end up missing Clark and Anderson.

i think we should've given anderson another shot, he always looked good to me. but that's just me probably...

if we get the same production out of andre davis that we did last year (including the 3 returns) then i'll still be happy hahaha...

when you look at guys that left: barber, boulware, clark, flanagan, von hutchins, mathis, mckinney, their contributions were closer to nothing than something and in some cases had negative impacts. now take the same core and add on guys like colvin, bentley, thompson, chris brown who likely will have greater impacts than what the guys who left had. yes, i think this team is better for it. the depth is depth-ier.

i just meant the depth is actually depth now. deeper...depth-ier...same difference haha....
