Default Preseason game: Texans @ Dallas, 8/21/2021

So, more of the new look Texans Saturday night on ABC13. Scrimmage set to start @ 7pm CST.

Jacob Martin is the team's best trade acquisition in franchise history.

Hargreaves, yuck.

Caserio traded Keion Crossen earlier this month. Really kind of an odd move since Crossen actually could have helped this season. It was the second time Caserio was behind a trade to send Crossen away... it's how the Texans first acquired him from the Patriots a couple years ago. Wonder what Caserio has against the guy.

Back to the game. The Texans punter looks good.

Cowboys going for the go ahead TD to win the game but Texans defense steps up with an INT from Terrence Brooks.

Final score:

Texans 20, Cowboys 14

-----------------------------------------------------

13 first downs, 220 total yards, 0-10 on 3rd downs and 24:56 time of possession is nothing to write home about but winning the turnover battle 4-0 makes up for all of that.

Only preseason game at home next Saturday vs. Tampa Bay @ 7pm.

The Texans winning in spite of a less-than-impressive offensive effort. This probably says less about how well the Texans played than how Cowboys fans should make sure their playoffs reservations are fully refundable.

The turnovers for the Texans defense are great. Specifically nice to see the production from Omenihu and Lonnie. Have to wonder how much of that turnover success is luck versus Lovie, but we'll see once the games are played when it counts.

Special teams for the Texans may actually be good this season. Feels weird to type that. New punter is legit, Fairbairn is typically solid, and the return games are hopeful.
