I'm going to be a little "outside the box" here.
1. Vontae Davis - CB - Illinois. While Maualuga is probably my top choice here, I just don't know how he and Ryans fit in the same linebacking corps. Davis has Top 5 talent but needs the fire lit under him. Well, we have Mr. Intensity in Dunta Robinson to keep Davis focused. This pick does two things - Davis becomes insurance if Robinson can't be signed to a new deal or if Robinson simply can't come all the way back. And if Robinson *is* all the way back, you now have the best CB tandem in the NFL by 2012. Yeah, I know Jacque Reeves, Fred Bennett, yeah yeah. Given all the three-wides and four-wides out there, they'll all find work.
2. Robert Ayers - DE - Tennessee. Because (all together now) "we have to get to Peyton Manning".
3. Andy Levitre - G - Oregon St. The Steelers always take an OL around this part of the draft and it seems they've been doing okay lately. Levitre fits the ZBS well but if he lasts longer than four hours, you may need to see your doctor.
4a. Javon Ringer - RB - Michigan St. Slaton needs help and Ringer knows how to carry the load. Just hope he doesn't get his bell rung too often.
4b. Kaluka Maiava - OLB - USC. Hey look! We still got a USC linebacker!
5. Mike Wallace - WR - Mississippi. Runs deep, penetrating interviews, uh, I mean, pass routes.
6. Stephen Hodge - OLB - TCU. Throwing bodies at a weak position.
7. Moise Fokou - OLB - Maryland. More bodies at OLB. But, hey, with a name like that he'll be an instant fan favorite if he can make some big hits.
