I think that is kind of a moot point. Richard Smith and some of the defensive staff will be gone at the end of the year. I am not sure that changing the DC midstream is going to help. You are not going to be able to implement a new scheme in the middle of the year. Kubes loves Frank Bush, and he would be the logical choice to be in contention for a new DC, but if they give it to Bush midseason and the "D" still bites, then that does not give Frank a legitimate chance as DC.
I guy I think will be considered is Jim Bates. The Dolphin players loved him when he was the interim coach in Miami, and he has a history of being a DC. I would rather Kubes wait until the end of the year, evaluate who is available and make a sound, wise decision, instead of making a rash one now, and not giving Bush or even Hoke a fair chance at the job.
