For the sake of this discussion, let us say the Draft was to be held sometime before March 31st, OK? The NFLPA would go screaming to a judge and get a restraining order claiming the right of a player to play for whomever he chooses. Now we are back to square one, aren't we?
By the agreement in place, the NFLPA has sanctioned the draft process but they have no say in the dates that the draft is held. By holding the draft in February the current contract is still in play. No lawsuits needed. If the draft is held after the March 3rd expiration then all heck can start.

They will hold the draft in February, this will hurt the scouts job of judging juniors that declare, and it will hurt player that are hurt. Everyone will be in the same boat, and the teams with the best scouting departments should be the winners in this off season.
