Every thing I am seeing has the Texans going past an lineman to draft a playmaker.
McClain just stated "No way the Texans draft an offensive lineman in the first round. I don't see them selecting one in the first four rounds. Maybe an OT or C/G." I get his text updates, sign up on the chron.com.
Would Haynesworth help this team yes, when he is in shape and playing. He is also a prima donna, and this team does not seem to be attracted to that type person.

Don't disagree with anything you're saying here. I'm torn too on whether this team is good enough to compete for a championship over the next three years. However, I think, in today's NFL, that is about as far out as you can realistically plan to build your team. With injuries, free agency, etc., trying to build a team any further out than that is really difficult. For instance, when Kubiak came in, I would guess that the only 2 players on the team he inherited that virtually everyone agreed we should keep and build around were AJ and Dunta. Four years later and one of those building blocks is gone. We've got some good building blocks right now in Schaub, AJ, Mario, Demeco, Cushing, etc. However, I don't think it is reasonable to expect us to keep those guys together, healthy, and in their prime for more than the next 3 years. Again, if you think this core group is good enough to get you to the promised land, we need to do what we can to get there in the next 3 years. If this core group is not good enough, well then it's starting over time again. Just my opinion.
