Not My Mock
But an interesting one as the Bowl games have finished. The Texans select CB Patrick Robinson in the first round. LB Sean Weatherspoon is off the board, but FS Earl Thomas goes #25 to the Bengals.

Interesting mock. Mine has a new twist right now. I have a few underclassmen selected. I also have us trading K.Walter to Washington for their 3rd rounder, evidently Walter finds it more appealing to continue playing for Kyle.
1. Brian Price, DT, UCLA 2. Donovan Warren, CB, Michigan 3. Major Wright, FS, Florida 3. Joe McKnight, RB, USC 4. Chris Scott, OT, Tenn 5. Daryll Clark, QB, Penn St 6. Jay Ross, DT, East Carolina 7. Stevenson Sylvester, OLB, Utah |
I have to say that I would rather take Mike Iupati at our 1st than a CB. The one thing we really need is a running game that can keep the ball and take time off the clock nearing the end of the game. It is better to be running the ball than defending the other team. That may be simplistic, but then study the playoff teams that win. Not minimizing 'D' just trying to maximize the offense punch.

I surely don't think Iupati will last until our pick in the second. Who in the heck gets hyped from Idaho, if they don't deserve it. Did you know anything about Ryan Clady before he was "hyped"? I saw almost every game he played and thought he was good, but didn't know his NFL potential until his second year starting (redshirt Soph) when he started getting some national hype.
Did you know Tony Mandarich would be such a bust? He was an absolute beast from the Big 10. How could he have missed? By the way, I was reading about Iupati being a 1st round pick early in the regular season. I'm pretty sure scouts knew about him and his potential last year or year before. Do I want him with our first pick? Absolutely, as long as he is not a bust.:D |

Changing gears, I think it was pretty unusual what the Texans did with Jerimiah Johnson. I'm sure it's not the first time it has been done, but I don't know of any specific players it has been done with. I think when they signed him, they knew he would probably have to have surgery on the shoulder. Usually, an undrafted guy with an injury has virtually no chance to stick with a club. They must feel the shoulder will be sound again and he has the talent to make the team next year. |
