Walters new mock.

This is the best one I have seen yet.

1st Earl Thomas, FS, Texas
2nd Vince Oghobaase, DT, Duke
3rd Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford

Man would that be a dream come true.

Sadly he has us picking 14th, or that is a good thing, if your not in the playoff, pick high. One the issues this team has had is we are usually middle of the league, not bad enough to pick high, yet not in the playoffs.

This mock is a joke IMO, Clausen taken #1? and by Cleveland? Right.

I can live with his mock. But his rating of the players will change a lot before the real draft, IMO.

I coached against Oghobaase when he was at Hastings. We beat them that year in a close game but he was a monster. I haven't followed him much since, but it is always a plus to me if a guy is a great athlete AND a graduate from a place like Duke. Plus we could go all Nigerian in the middle.

Mcguire has us picking 17th at the time of this mock. Waaay off now... They both have us picking behind Denver and the Jets. Obviously things can change, but with the way we're going we'll likely be in the top 10 or 12. If that's the case we may luck into Berry. If he's gone I'd look at Haden (see ya, DRobbery) or maybe even Spiller. It would be a tough call with Slaton here, but I'd prefer a homerun guy and be done with the RB questions.

EDIT: If we change coaches who goes to a 3-4, I guess I'd look at the best, biggest NT. Or maybe OL... Ugh, we suck...

Can't imagine Gerhart lasting beyond the 2nd round ?

For all practical purposes our playoff chances are gone, therefor I'm all for us playing our younger guys for the game-experience and thereby minimizing our chances to improve our record. This should be a very strong Draft for which we should take full advantage. I didn't say play to lose, I said give the younger, more inexperienced players time on the field ?
What difference does it make how many more games Kubiak wins (or loses), because they are all meaningless games at this point in the season with our playoff chances gone ? One way or the other, McNair should have already made his dicision about Kibiak ?

This could be the year to make a big draft trade. The Texans (no matter who is coaching) need to win next year, and this draft is supposed to be deep with Juniors who will come out before the NFL changes the rookie pay scale. Claussen and Golden are already coming out, due in part to a coaching change I'm sure. Should be a deep draft.

When we drafted high, people complained about the salary the rookie made against the cap, so I guess there's just no winning with some people. Given that 2010 may be an uncapped year, a lot of conventional thinking will go out the window. Expect some weird personnel moves next year.

BTW, Denver's (8-4) first-round pick is actually the one from the Bears (5-7). The Seahawks have the pick that was allocated to Denver. I bitched that the Bears' #1 wouldn't be as high as Denver's last April. Guess I missed the boat on that one.

Hey, don't feel too bad, we have all missed the boat on draft and personnel choices for this inconsistent team.

One thing I feel strongly about is we don't need to draft another LB with our first round pick. Our LB's have really improved this year. And with the lucky addition of Pollard, I don't see any need for a high draft pick on a safety.
