Official Texans @ Bills Game Thread, 11/01/2009

Discuss the game action in here.

One game doesn't make a season, but it seems to me we'll know a lot about what kind of team the Texans are in 2009 based on how they handle just this one game.

And no excuses about the weather. Sure, upper 40s may be cool, but this is football. No precipitation, winds under 10 mph.... sounds like a nice day actually.

Inactives: Fred Bennett, Frank Okam, Nick Ferguson, Anthony Hill.

Pivotal game. Just a golden opportunity for the team to "cross the bridge" and stay there....

Seems like every week, but I see turnovers again as being critical. Texans must not cough it up to the opportunistic Bills.....

The good news is that Kyle Williams, Donte Whitner, and Shawn Nelson are out for them.

Bennet must have really gotten into the dog house to be inactive again. I though he was fairly promising as a rook, but he sure doesn't seem to fit what Gibbs Jr is trying to do.

All I ask is that we don't forget that TO is still on this team. I don't care what alot of TO haters have to say about him, he is still a very dangerous threat. I am not concerned about Lee Evans' speed as much as I am about TO's size. We need Mario to take up residence in the backfield today.

We're a better man-to-man team... We just don't do as well in zone....

Texans win the toss and will receive.

AD bobbles the ball and never gets going. Texans ball at the 15.

Arky 11-01-2009 12:04 PM

On first down, Schaub scrambles for 7.

Schaub hits OD over the middle for a 22 yard gain. Ball at the Texan 40.

Arky 11-01-2009 12:06 PM

Screen to Slaton goes for 5. 2nd and 5 coming up.

End around to JJ goes for a big gain - 17 yards.

Moats for about 6. Ball at the Bill 33.

Schaub INT'ed by Byrd. Bills ball at the 13.

Arky 11-01-2009 12:08 PM

Reed for 4 yards.

Lynch for about 8 gets the 1st down.

Lynch for about 8 more.

Lynch TFL -2. Brings up 3rd and 3.

Pass goes inc. so Bills to punt.

Yep, awful pass by Matt.....

Arky 11-01-2009 12:13 PM

Short return by JJ brings the punt back to the Texan 31.

Slaton for about 2.

Screen to KW goes for about 3. 3rd and 6 coming up.

3rd down pass goes inc. so Texans to punt.

OD down...

TheMatrix31 11-01-2009 12:14 PM

Oh jeez. Owen's down.

TheMatrix31 11-01-2009 12:19 PM

What's the deal with that 3 yard nonsense?

Arky 11-01-2009 12:20 PM

Turk's punt fair caught by the Bills at their 23 but refs mysteriously place the ball at the 26....

Pass to TO good for about 3. One of the Bills (Meredith) is down.

OD's knee is getting wrapped in ice - doesn't look good.... His day is probably over...

Lynch for no gain. 3rd and 7 coming up.

Pass to Johnson 2 yards short of the 1st down so Bills to punt.

TheMatrix31 11-01-2009 12:23 PM

We've forced the most three-and outs in the entire league? WTF.

Arky 11-01-2009 12:24 PM

Excellent 70 yard return by JJ is nullified by holding on Diles....

Texans end up with the ball at their own 47. 6:09 left in the 1st quarter.

1st down pass to AJ is inc.

WMH 11-01-2009 12:24 PM

Another wasted JJ return......
