Grossman to miss 4-5 weeks with hamstring injury

I don't see how he will be able to stick around now......

From the chronic via the AP:

Rex Grossman is expected to miss about a month with a hamstring injury and the Texans are looking to sign another quarterback to fill in until he's healthy.

Grossman, the Texans' third quarterback and the former Bears starter, was injured in Saturday's win over the Chiefs and coach Gary Kubiak says he doesn't feel comfortable finishing the preseason with only Matt Schaub and backup Dan Orlovsky.

Kubiak says the Texans could bring back Alex Brink, who was with the team last season.

Also injured Saturday were safety Troy Nolan, a rookie seventh-round pick, who will have surgery to repair a broken hand on Monday and fullback Boomer Grigsby who is expected to be out six weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Guess I was wrong. I thought Kubes was just POed at him and used the hammy thing as cover. I doubt he hangs around now though as they need camp arms at the very least.

They're droppin like flys. I dunno, but if this pattern continues we are gonna be shaky at several positions by the time the regular season opener rolls around.

My thought is the exact opposite. I don't think you can cut a guy that is hurt until he recovers unless there is some kind of injury settlement. Either way, I think he takes up salary cap space. Somebody please wrap Schaub with some bubblewrap ASAP!

His play was sub par at best Saturday. It really looked as though Kubiak pulled him. This injury does not bode well for Grossman. He has been unable to outplay Orlavsky in TC and in the first preseason game. Now he is injured. All that coupled with the fact that Kubiak does not normally carry more than two QB s. This does not bode well for Grossman. Only time will tell.

So the Texans re-added Brink following Grossman's injury, not a surprise. I still doubt Brink makes the final 53, and I haven't seen much of anything to think Grossman deserves a spot, either, even if healthy.

Then in light of the Vikes creating a logjam with the signing of Favre, I wonder what the market might be like for Tarvaris Jackson? The Texans already have their backup of the future signed in Orlovsky - and I still like him, however raw he is now - but T-Jack has some qualities that I think could be very effective in this offense, especially if he is available on the cheap.

I knew of the Sex cannon's rep for "going deep", but I always thought it was exaggerated. It's not. At all. You just knew he was going to let it fly on that first pass he threw. There was no reason to even think about throwing that ball. Even at practice I saw him force ball after ball right into coverage. I know some people wanted Rex over Orlovsky. Orlovsky hasn't done anything to impress me, but I would be terrified with Rex at the helm right now.

I see most of Dan's issues as footwork/mental. He is over and under throwing the ball, which comes from footwork, and over thinking. He should be able to calm down as he gets more comfortable. Well we can hope.

I'm not worried about Orlovsky. I can see why Kubiak likes him, but there just hasn't been anything that makes me think we are really onto something. Grossman has made me cringe on at least 6 or 7 throws.

Grossman is a wild cannon, and you can see why he wore out his welcome in Chi'town.
