Any interest in FA S Roy Williams?

Hes a liability in coverage but is a strong run defender, might make a nice pairing with Eugene Wilson.

NO...He is absolutely horrible in coverage. Unless Kubiak is going to instruct bush to play with 8 men in the box at all times this would be a bad idea.

This would be a bad idea. A 3-4 team should pick him up and try him at olb.

Haven't watched alot of his games, is he that bad in coverage? They were saying the same thing about Jacques Reeves when he played in Dallas, and he turned out alright. We run a different scheme and thus, the old adage about one man's trash may apply.

Not saying that I am interested, just curious.

I never noticed Reeves when he was at Dallas. Roy was a much higher profile player, but I was still amazed at how bad he was. Dallas subbed him out of the game in passing situations last year. Completely lost back there.

Too small I would guess. Maybe a WLB in a 4-3 that lets him blitz alot?

Mike 03-05-2009 01:08 PM

I do not want to see him as one of our DB's. You thought Earl and Brown were bad in coverage, Roy would make them look good.

cadams 03-05-2009 01:18 PM

don't want him at all.

barrett 03-05-2009 08:07 PM

He grew out of the safety position shortly after entering the NFL. Far too slow and no range. Darren Woodson covered up for him for a while, and when he retired, Roy was exposed.

No interest unless he wants to play for near the veteran minimum.

painekiller 03-05-2009 08:35 PM

No interest, another SS who is to big and slow for safety and not big enough for most teams WILLs.

TexicanMexican 03-05-2009 11:00 PM

I had been arguing with a friend about this. For some reason he wanted to sign every player the crygirls released until I called him a closet 'girl fan. Then again I should no better than to argue with him when he has great ideas like Brad Johnson, Tank Johnson, Roy Williams and I'm sure T.O. now.

superbowlbound 03-06-2009 05:12 PM

The guy covers like Matt Stevens. Absolutely not.

mussop 03-06-2009 07:04 PM

I dont watch Dallas EVER, unless we are playing them. HATEM!!!! But I still think he has to be better than what we have at SS. Right?

sinnister 03-06-2009 11:22 PM

He is terrible in coverage!! No thanks. I think I would rather try the other Roy Williams at safety.

Sadly I think CC Brown is better all around safety then Williams is.

Nope. I would much rather have Barber out there. Re-sign Ferguson. CC Brown....basically anything short of Matt Stevens than sign Roy Williams.

Yup, Roy is almost as much of a liability as Matt Steven was.

Nconroe 03-07-2009 08:29 PM

Wow, TO signed at Buffalo, so I guess Roy will get on as safety somewhere.

I would rather have RW than TO on our team.

coloradodude 03-08-2009 03:15 AM

I'd sign him for as close to the league minimum as possible and put him in short yardage situations. He does stick hard on running plays.
