I Know What I Would Do

I would do what I have to to make sure we draft MLB James Laurinaitis at the 2009 Draft. It would make an immediate improvement in the way our defense looks and plays, IMO. Next I would make sure we get a pass rusher on the other side of Mario so opposing QB's don't have all day to pick a receiver.

you draft him as a MLB and move Ryans or draft him as a LB to move on either side of Ryans? He was supposed to be a top-10 pick last year so I have to imagine it's the same this year, so that's involving giving up picks we sorely need. He would be nice to have though. Either way I think tying up the other side of Mario is more important, draft or free agency. I really hope we sign a DE to concentrate on getting a good player to roam the defensive field, LB or S. I can't wait until the draft picture de-fuzzes itself a little...

I have alway been against trading up, but now that we are somewhat established as a team, I think the time is right if the player is right to get that one essential element in our defense that would make the whole D better, and that would be Laurinaitis. JMHO

I somewhat agree. But not with moving up in the draft. IMO FA is where we need to make an impact. Use the draft to keep adding talent and depth.

Free Agency has not been real good to us, what with Bobby Grier doing the pro scouting. Anthony Weaver, Ahman Green, Reeves (but he still may be OK), just to name 3.

KJ3 10-27-2008 10:17 AM

well, i think going after a guy with a little better chance of succeeding might help. like a haynesworth or peppers...ahman green was old when we got him and guess what? he's old.

Yep, he was. But both Peppers and Haynesworth have both shown to be lazy and not really playing up to their best, unless it was their contract year. So who's to say?

that's not so true for haynesworth. he's been on top of the game for 2 years now. peppers probably just saw his team going nowhere.

either way, pairing either of those dudes with mario and amobi would make o'lines tremble...

QB. Trade Sage.

NBT 11-04-2008 02:37 PM

Naahh, Sage is our starter now till Schaub gets well. I wish to heck Schaub showed the talent to move around in the pocket that Sage shows, I'll say that.

Changed my mind again.........First thing I would do would be to hit the donkey in the head to get his attention (fire Richard Smith!), then I would put either Bush or Rhoades in as the temporary DC and warn the rest of the coaches, AND the players that they were playing for their jobs next year, to see if we couldn't wake them up a bit.
