Ramsey to Rams For 2020, 2021 1sts and a 4th

Talented malcontent Jalen Ramsey was traded by Jacksonville to the backsliding Rams for their 1st-round picks in 2020 and 2021 plus a fourth-rounder in 2021. Earlier, the Rams flipped CB Marcus Peters (a less-talented headcase whom the Chiefs were happy to unload) to the Ravens for a linebacker and an undisclosed (read mid-to-low) draft pick. Rams also IR'd CB Aqib Talib recently.

For the Jags, this is a good deal as long as they can cash in on the draft picks, something the franchise has a history of not doing well (like we should talk). In fact, the NFL ought to move their draft to somewhere along the Florida coast with all the top picks the Dolphins and Jags are stockpiling. A lot of kids in aqua and teal jerseys next April.

Great move for Jacksonville. It also highlights how badly we screwed up the Clowney situation.

Ramsey was a midseason public headache making up fake injuries to avoid playing and they still got max value. Clowney obviously has a lower max value, but we still would have cashed in max value if we didn't ruin his value by waiting past the deadline of the franchise tag.

Since we didn't spend anywhere near our cap, I fully agree. They could have let Clowney just sit out ala Melvin Gordon and probably had a better trade market mid-season than they have now. Think there aren't a few teams who would have been willing to take an edge rusher who weren't in the market at cutdown time?

Or just trade him next offseason. They could have waited less or more and did better. They traded him at the point in time where his value was at absolute bottom, and they did so under zero compulsion.
