With the signings, cuts must follow...

I was going to post about this a couple hours ago and became sidetracked.

Spencer was the first one I saw; what other names will be getting cut with the rookies now taking up roster spots?

according to the chron.com

To make room on the roster for the three rookies the Texans have signed, the team also released fullback Jon Abbate, defensive tackle Eric Powell and guard Dan Stevenson.
Only Abbate surprises me. Looks like Cook, has him out, now how many RBs will be carried and does Cook make the cut.

My bet is Abatte's release is so that we can keep an extra RB (Taylor) in case of an injury to Green or Brown. If Green cant make it out of TC without injury he probably gets the ax.

Abbate is suprising to me. I figured he would stick and have a shot at the PS. Looks like that isnt happening now.

The other 2 are no suprise at all. They were at very deep positions with much better talent in front of them.

Maybe we will pick Abbate back up later and add him to the PS. After all, I guess you don't really need three fullbacks for camp. I have no opinion on his ability because I don't think I've ever seen him play. But I was hoping he would be a sleeper. I think Cook is overpaid, and to tell the truth, I'm not thrilled with Leech's pass catching out of the backfield. Too many dropsies.

I was surprized they gave up on Spencer, too bad.

have you ever noticed that he always tries to make a catch that requires a little more athleticism than he has? is he just running a goofy route or are the balls getting thrown poorly? i love it when he gets the ball with some space though, he is a bull.
