Texans claim Jason Allen

610 is reporting that the Texans have claimed cb Jason Allen after being released from the Fish and placed Barber on IR.

is allen the guy that miami released to make room for harris? if so, us claiming a guy who was cut because they signed someone we didn't even go after is not all that inspiring

Yep, that's the one. He was cut for a 35 yr old coming off major knee surgery......

I would've rather taken the gamble with Harris than Allen, but hey, at least they are trying "something"......right?

Nconroe 11-11-2010 08:05 PM

Allen was a first round draft, 16th pick in 2006, by a previous coaching regime and was starting two weeks ago, started first seven games this year, somehow got in the dog house, apparently for inconsistency.

he has three interceptions this year , so must have some skills. Was good on special teams as well.

6;1", 200 pounds, spot starter before this year when he apparently won starting job during training camp. 27years old, healthy.

sounds better than Harris to me. guess we will see.

Apparently Barber injured his knee in practice Tuesday, had micro surgery yesterday, on IR today, or something like that.

Wonder if any other moves are coming?

I dont care who he is just plug him in for KJ. Maybe he'll be this year's Bernie Pollard.

hey, he's SOMEBODY. Anything to keep the human sieve off the field! (read: Kareem Jackson)

TheMatrix31 11-12-2010 02:38 AM

I'll take it.

Does this mean you won't be voting for KJ this year to go Honolulu as part of the Pro-Bowl squad ?

The odds are against it. I would vote for him to go to Honolulu as part of the "Get junk-punched by a Giant Samoan for sucking so bad" squad, however.

Hey, I have howled over the play of KJ too, but consider that both CB's have almost no help over the top and a dline that couldn't put a rush on a piece of cake. A Pro Bowl CB would have trouble in that environment. That whole house of cards is falling apart.

superbowlbound 11-15-2010 06:21 PM

you're right, NBT, and he does get a little better every week. I'm rather surprised that he's only given up 4 touchdowns on the season. Seemed like he gave up 2 in the chargers game alone.

I like the fact that they signed Jason Allen....He can play CB or FS. It's not like our Secondary is full of world beaters.

NBT 11-20-2010 02:32 PM

Good....if Allen can play SS plug him in for Pollard on every down except first.
And what has happened to DB coach Gibbs? He was very good last year when his daddy and baby Shanny were here. We had a great offense and the defense came on after the first 4 games. Now, whithout Gibbs Sr. and Shanny, we look like the Titanic about to go under.

Fonz the Boss 11-21-2010 02:09 PM

Well hes been on the field for some plays now and he doesnt look impressive. Or it could just be that the Frank Bush defensive makes anyone look terrible.

Nconroe 11-21-2010 06:20 PM

I thought he made some good plays as a CB and on special teams. But, I guess he was beat deep on the second to last play, with late or no help over the top which he was expecting.

I agree, he looked solid up until the 2nd to last play. He should have stayed on the WR even with deep help, but considering his lack of time with these guys, not a bad game.

I want to see him get some time at safety also.

NBT 11-23-2010 03:36 PM

Well then, there it is. It is the safeties fault, if not the Dline. OR BOTH
