Official Texans @ Jaguars Game Thread, 11/14/2010
The Texans will be traveling to Jacksonville this Sunday to take on the Jaguars. The 4-4 Jags have wins over Denver, Indy, Buffalo and Dallas - losses to San Diego, Philly, Tennessee and KC. When the Jags lose, it is usually in blowout fashion, when they win, it is usually a lot closer. The defensive focus of the Texans should be on containing Maurice Jones-Drew in the running game and Mike Sims-Walker in the passing game.
TV = CBS (Channel 11 local) 12 noon CST Announcers = Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker Opening line = Texans by 1 Current line = Jags by 1 to 1.5 Don't forget Thursday night NFLN action starts this week with Baltimore @ Atlanta..... |

And I'm looking forward to seeing an old Texas fav of mine for the first time with his new team - D-Rob. I tend to think, all things considered, it was a good idea not to retain Robinson for another year here but can't help but wonder how things might have been different in '10 if the Texans had kept him ? |
The only bright spot I can see for this week is we are playing away from home. Lately we haven't played that well anywhere, but at home seems like we are 0 for zilch!! Richard Justice (arrogant a**hole), but this time he may be right. He says the Texans aren't terrible, they just don't seem to be there! Other than the secondary sucks, and the offense is fast starting to, he would seem to be smack on this time. Wow is Me! Will this team ever get it's head out of it's arse?
Oh yeah, and believe me, we are better without D-Rob's guardhouse lawyer talk. But I believe he plays for the Falcons, not the Jags. |

I hit the over HARD! |
Well, if our defense can quit giving up the big pass play, we might just win one, maybe, I hope.
|
Gus Johnson calling the game. Does that mean we can chalk this up as a W?.... I hope so.

Koobs needs to shake things up a bit to get these guys refocused.
Suggestion: take Jacoby Jones out of punt returning and make Special Teams special again. He's 29th with an avg of 8.9 yards per return. Double that and then he's in the top 10 avg I think most anticipate a fumble before a TD out of him. |
Seems we had a lot of penalties during kickoffs and punt returns first several games of the year, with many nice runs brought back.
JJ has done better catching the ball and running well this year, when given a lane to run. He had a 39 yard run last game. He was pretty shaky his rookie year for sure. I'd rather see some shake-ups on the defense side of the ball, we need to do something to get lots more pressure on the passer. I guess I will predict we win, 27-24. seems I've been right half the time so far this year. |
I have absolutely no idea, not even a clue how the team comes out this Sunday in FLA ? Flat or fired-up, who knows ?

But there's nothing like Gus Johnson in the final minute of a close game. I enjoy his little operettas. |
I think it's huge that Aaron Kampman, the Jags' best pass rusher, is out for the game. Similarly Alualu also got nicked up this week in practice.
Our offense should have no trouble keeping the ball and allowing the defense to rest. If ever there were a game for our defense to get some confidence, this is it. If we lose this weekend I think we're staring at 7-9 for the year. If we win we might be able to go on a nice run. Personally I think we'll roll. |
Tweet from @Adam_Schefter
@Adam_Schefter: Jacksonville DE Aaron Kampman out for season with torn ACL, according to Jaguars twitter account.
That sure helps Schaub's ribs a bit..... |
New cornerback Allen could see action Sunday for Texans (OD out)

No Allen this week, but AJ will play. The inactives:

I want to see more of Ward as well as a heapin' helpin' of Foster...
Gametime! Jags win the toss and will receive. Jags bring the kickoff back to about their own 28. |
Garrard scrambles for 9 but flag on the play. Holding on GQ adds 5 yards. Ball at the Jags 42. 1st down.
MJD for 3. Brings up 2nd and 7. Screen pass picks up about 9 and the 1st down. Ball at the Texan 46. Dump pass goes inc. 2nd and 10 coming up. Pass complete to Sims-Walker for 12. Ball at the Texan 34. MJD for 7. 2nd and 3 coming up. MJD for about 2. Brings up 3rd and 1. Garrard runs for 14 - ball at the Texan 11. |
Offsides Jags pre-snap = -5. Makes it 1st and 15 at the Texan 16.
Pass to Jones gets about 6. 2nd and 9 coming up. Oh goodness - Pollard had the INT in the endzone but lost it.... 3rd and 9 coming up. Osgood (Jags) down on the play. Injury timeout. |
On any other team that would've been a pick.
Man we can't get a break. |
