The upcoming Seattle game
And the season goes on....
The Texans face the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in a battle of two 5-7 teams. The Texans will be without RB Steve Slaton (IR) and will more than likely go with Chris Brown and Ryan Moats. Rookie Arian Foster is also expected to see some action. The Seahawks are coming off a 20-17 win over the 49'ers and have a 41-0 shellacking of the Jags on their resume so they can't be taken lightly. Texans are currently favored by 6 to 6.5. FOX announcers = Ron Pitts and John Lynch FOX @ noon CST. Set your DVR's. Houston area will only get two afternoon games this Sunday - Texans @ noon and the Cowboys @ 3pm. |
Anybody know what the rules are for determining when a city does or doesn't get a third game (either early or late) on Sundays ?
I don't really dislike the Cowboys that much, but I do always watch the Texans and I tire of the Cowboys being the only choice I get when their game (be it early or late) is on the other time slot Sunday afternoon ? |

How's that for not answering your question :) |

The way I understand it, each Sunday between CBS and FOX, one of them will get a "doubleheader" - an early and late game. When they don't have the doubleheader and it is a home game, is when the 1-game-for-each-station kicks in. It's a little confusing.... Quote:

I always watch the Texans first and as far as the second game goes I always watch the Cowboys game. Not becaue I like or dislike them, its just fun to watch games with big time matchups.... Boys vs. Chargers game will be packed with many of the league's top superstars and should be a fun game to watch.
As far as the Texans game goes, the Seahawks are a pass first team with Hasselbeck so I wont be surprised if our secondary gets torched... again. |

But below is more from the Wiki link you provided which explains how Fox and CBS decide who gets the doubleheader and singleheaer each weekend. Turns out there really is a method to their maddness in the process of determining who gets what each weekend. ************************************ "During the first sixteen weeks of the schedule, both Fox and CBS are given eight doubleheaders apiece. The two networks alternate doubleheaders, but not necessarily week-in and week-out. For example, in early October, CBS typically airs two or three consecutive double-header weekends, while Fox opts for single-headers those weeks due to their concurrent coverage of the baseball playoffs. Due to CBS' annual coverage of the U.S. Open, Fox normally has had exclusive double-header coverage of opening weekend since 1998. This means that the three AFC West teams in the Mountain or Pacific time zones – Denver, Oakland and San Diego – cannot play at home during the opening weekend, unless they are hosting an NFC opponent (which would be aired by Fox) or scheduled in primetime (regardless of opponent). Starting in 2006, both networks air a double-header in week 17." |
Well, I am hoping we have a great December and win out.

The best we could hope for is to go 9-7 and hope we're in the mix. We're not making the playoffs obviously, but it'd be nice to go 9-7 because the last wild card is going to be 9-7 for sure.
Then it's going to piss me off that if we had won ONE of the six games we've blown, we'd be in. |
Took a while but the forums are back up....

Anyone still think KBrown is still our most consistent player? This guy has been rattled beyond repair. Ask David Carr.
I am still not confident with a 24-7 lead at the half. |
They need to show me they can play more than one half.
|

Starting to look the same as usual. Anderson misses hot route and the Texans punt the ball away. Is this game about to take a turn?
One good thing. Kubiak got up in Anderson's grill for the mistake. He is finally realizing that those small missed assignments lead to lost games. |

Finally we make a play when we need one.
P.S. I know Mario has been a little silent but this guy has 8 sacks on the season with 3 games and a quarter and a half left. Also the opportunity to pick up another this game. He could definitely end up with 10-12 sacks this year. |
1st down pass goes inc. Ball at the Texan 33.
(missed a play) On 3rd and 7, pass goes inc. Seattle to go for it on 4th down. Seahawks get 5 - not enough. Texans ball. End of 3rd quarter. |
Thought I'd check out the commentary on this game considering the score. I like having John Lynch as an announcer more than Steve Tasker.
Is this effort too little, too late? Perhaps the Seahawks aren't very good, so we are seeing a very good Texans team in comparison. The one thing I'll say, this team isn't quitting on it's coach like the Capers' team quit on him. |
