Official Texans @ Titans Game Thread, 9/20/2009
Ok, I think we need to start getting ready for this next game. Maybe get a win to make up for last week. Let's say it was just a overall bad first week, players, coaches, but it can get better and be a good season still. I think too early to write off the season, but things do need to get better quickly.
Texans should be over the Dunta distraction, some guys healed up and back should help us. Titans, well, they also lost, even though looked pretty good against Pittsburgh in their first game, so probably also very motivated to beat us. Go Texans. |
Ya, sounds like most everyone will be ready to go: Reeves and Walter back... a few others have knicks but are expected to play. AD might be the only one to miss...
IMO, their best shot is for the D to rise up and get some turnovers off of Collins. Conversely, Schaub needs to have a much better game than last Sunday... |
The most we can hope for now is 2-2 for September, but that definitely dosen't include a win in Nashville Sunday.
|
Well i just want them to show me something that I can look forward to.... Even if they lose. I got my Battle Red tickets for the Jaguars game on week 3 and its no fun trying to get psyched for a game when your team sucks a$$.
|
I'll go ahead and say it. We are NO match for Tennessee.
|
I am hoping for a repeat from a few years ago when they went in and beat the Panthers. (Except for AJ hurting his knee of course.)
I want to see them play like they have bees in their pants. Strong, fast and physical. |

Fisher is a guy who will blitz if he has to, but he's on record as saying that they will always try to get the QB with their front four first. With Haynesworth gone they might blitz a little more this season, but they haven't been a blitz first team the way a Rex Ryan coached team is. That being said Fisher is a smart guy and if he sees something in the film that he thinks his personnel can exploit he won't be afraid to use it. |
Talked to a buddy of mine in Nashville, and based on the forecast, it could be a nasty game on Sunday. Flood watches going on up there now, 60% chance of thunderstorms thru the weekend.
Bad footing for all, which I think helps us more than hurts us. Might slow Johnson down a step, and if we can contain him and Lenwhale, like we did in the first half on TJones and Washington, we might actually have a decent shot at this. Protection of Schaub is going to be key. He didn't have much time to take a look at anything last week. Hopefully, Myers won't get thrown around like a freaking rag doll and we can get this offense moving. Thru my battle red glasses, this may not be so bad....... |
The offensive line has to be able to allow Slaton to get into a flow. If we can create some holes for him to run through, I'd expect the Texans to win. Hopefully, Frank Okam can have a big game this week in stopping up the middle.

Looks like Walter is out again. From Rotoworld:

Gametime!
Texans to receive the opening kickoff. JJ takes a knee from the kickoff. Texans ball at the 20. |
Argh. No Walter and no Davis....eff
|
Slaton for 1.
Titans blitz but screen to Slaton good for 10. Slaton for 2. Brings up 3rd and 8. Offsides Chester -5. Offsides Myers -5. 3rd and 18. Slaton for 2 - Texans to punt. |
So far, looks like the same as last week. We haven't taken a shot downfield yet.
|
Well the D is performing as expected.
|
OMG...we stopped a screen! Cushing!
|
You've got to be FING kidding me!!! These guys SUCK!
|
No return on the punt. Ball rolls to the Titan 27. Titans ball.
Washington for 13 on the reverse. DeMeco TFL on C Johnson -3. Diles sniffs out the screen to Johnson -1. 3rd and 14. Johnson takes the dumpoff for 17. 1st and 10 ball in Texan territory. 1st down pass goes inc. Cushing TFL on Johnson on the screen. 3rd and 14. False start Titans -5. Delayed handoff to Johnson goes all the way for the TD, 57 yards. Titans 7, Texans 0 |
There's your difference. We get 3rd-and-18, we're stopped for two. They get 3rd-and-19 and they take it for six.
|
This third down shit is SO frustrating.
|
Raise your hand if you think Bush will be demoted before week 10.
|
JJ brings the kickoff back to the 23.
Slaton for 3. Pass inc. to AJ. 3rd and 7. Short pass to OD picks up 10 and the 1st down. Slaton for 2. Pass to AJ good for about 11. Ball at the Texan 49. Slaton for 3. 2nd down pass goes inc. Pass to OD goes for 9 and the 1st down. |
That's exactly why keeping Owen Daniels is IMPERATIVE.
|
Slaton wiggles for 5. Ball at the Titan 35.
AJ drops one. Pass to DA good for the 1st down but penalty on the play. Two against the Titans - both declined. Slaton -1. Dump to Slaton good for about 8. Flag on the play. Offsides Titans = declined. 3rd and 2. What a catch! Pass to a streaking AJ in the endzone good for the TD. Texans 7, Titans 7. Excellent drive - best drive of 2009. ;) |
Andre freaking johnson!!!!!
|
I didn't think AJ had any chance to catch that...and I don't like the call on 3rd and 2 even if it worked. The Titans had four penalties on that drive...all declined.
|
Wow......ballsy call, amazing catch.
|
.....omg.......
|
We got one DB pissed off at the team and the rest would not start for any other team in the National Football League.
|
Titans bring the kickoff back to their own 25.
C Johnson for about 5. Unbelievable. No one on C Johnson and Collins hits him for 6 pts. Titans 14, Texans 7 |
Yeah go ahead, keep shooting yourselves in the foot. Just keep doing it. GOOD JOB.
|
Why was that not "unabated to the quarterback"?
|
Texans ball at the 20.
False start Texans -5. Offsides Kearse - still 1st down. Pass to AJ good for about 9. Slaton fumbles but Texans recover. -3 on the play. 3rd and 4. End of 1st quarter. |
Well, if Duane Brown can't block, at least he can recover fumbles.
|
I want Frank Bush's head on a plate.
|
How no one could see Johnson was out there all alone is beyond me. Whether it's the coaching staff or players, this defense is awful and so out of position at times it's unbelievable.
And Slaton better get his sh!t together with these fumbles. |
Dump to C Brown goes inc. Texans to punt.
Titans field the punt and bring it back 16 yds to their own 47. |
Why cant my favorite team be any good?.... I want to be like all my friends who have something to look forward to with their favorite teams like the Cowboys, Steelers, and Saints... Why does my team have to suck so bad?
