They were saying Meredith is a character concern. Don't know about Robinson unless he is seen as too slow footed.

Roy P 04-26-2009 01:07 PM

If I had been running the draft all along, I'd be drafting AQ Shipley in this round. If they brought me into the room right now and asked who to take, I'm saying Rashad Jennings. Other players on my board right now....

LB Marcus Freeman Ohio State
LB Dannell Ellerbe Georgia
LB Scott McKillop Pittsburgh
S Chris Clemons Clemson
S C.J. Spillman Marshall
TE John Phillips Virginia
QB John Parker Wilson Alabama
OT Lydon Murtha Nebraska
WR Demetrius Byrd LSU
RB Javarris Williams Tenn State
RB Ian Johnson Boise State
DT Myron Pryor Kentucky

Roy P 04-26-2009 01:25 PM

I wonder if Johnny Knox allows Hester to go back to returns OR is Knox the new Hester?

dadmg 04-26-2009 01:27 PM

Personally, I'm hoping the Texans can turn this 5 for a 4th next year.

If not, the players on my ever-dwindling interest list are:

RB Rashad Jennings
CB Coy Francies
QB Rhett Bomar
RB Ian Johnson

Honestly, my expectations aren't very high at this point in this draft. I'm thinking a role player or a developmental player. Possibly a special teams demon.

Nconroe 04-26-2009 01:30 PM

Shipley, Clemons, Jennings my likely guesses , FWIW. There are several
RB's out there to consider at this time.

idymoe 04-26-2009 01:37 PM

I think they have to go running back here. Jennings, Peerman or Ian Johnson.

Roy P 04-26-2009 01:40 PM

Jax just added Jarett Dillard, to go with Thomas and Holt. We better be able to get some pass rush and cover.

We've been saying that for 3 rounds.........

Big Texas 04-26-2009 01:45 PM

Im hoping for Jennings

Roy P 04-26-2009 01:45 PM

McKillop next to Willis in SF. The 49ers just got better.

TexanJedi 04-26-2009 01:46 PM

If we want him we can have him. No way the Giants take another back, unless they trade....

sinnister 04-26-2009 01:47 PM

I like Jennings, Canfield, D.Byrd. If Ricky Jean Francois keeps falling, he would be a good pick as well. Oh, forgot about Freeman.

dadmg 04-26-2009 01:50 PM

And the Giants grab Bomar the pick before us. Oh well.

gunslinger57 04-26-2009 01:52 PM

Texans love them some versatility this year.

James Casey, TE, Rice.

James 04-26-2009 01:52 PM

Another TE . . .great

TexanJedi 04-26-2009 01:52 PM

Wow, James Casey from Rice. Two TE's, did not see that. Good value though.

gunn 04-26-2009 01:52 PM

James Casey

jcp 04-26-2009 01:52 PM

are we trading owen daniels?

papabear 04-26-2009 01:53 PM

i'd love the casey pick if we didn't already take a TE....he could run the wildcat for us maybe???

idymoe 04-26-2009 01:54 PM

Wow! Casey. No way I thought he would wind up with the Texans. They must have thought him too good to pass up, because I'm pretty sure they would have expected to take a running back by the 5th round. I had Jennings in the 3rd round in mocks where he was available.

popanot 04-26-2009 01:54 PM

What the hell, let's have Barwin convert back to TE too.

He was listed at 71 on Gosselin's top 100. I think Rick Smith looked at his board and saw value. However, Ingram was rated even higher and is younger so he has more upside but there are injury concerns.

Keith 04-26-2009 01:56 PM

A nice value pick for sure, but are the Texans really going to carry four TE's on the roster?

I'd be a lot happier about this pick if I understood the plan the team has for RB this season. I just can't put faith in Chris Brown being that backup to Slaton. Nope.

I don't think so. But, of our potential big free agents in the next few years, Daniels would be the one that I am not crazy about paying megabucks for. If they can develop someone to replace him and hang onto our other guys, I can deal.

popanot 04-26-2009 02:01 PM

I'm wondering if they have a possible deal in place to trade Daniels for a RB...??? Either that, or they're intenting is to bulk up Hill for backup T??? They think they need to bulk up special teams??? Hell, I have no idea...

This has officially become a head-scratcher second day draft...

Nconroe 04-26-2009 02:04 PM

maybe we're going 4 TE's in the redzone, just kidding.

dadmg 04-26-2009 02:05 PM

Mayock's loving our draft over on NFLN.

idymoe 04-26-2009 02:06 PM

As of pick 156, still available rb's are Jennings, Ringer, Peerman, Ian Johnson, Kory Sheets, Devin Moore, James Davis, & Javaris Williams. Hope there's not a big run before we get to pick again.

Or maybe a pick in 2010 ?

popanot 04-26-2009 02:10 PM

I can't think of a team that needs a TE that hasn't already fill that position. I was thinking Eagles, but they took a TE right after us. The Gaints maybe???

Well, it looks like taking Casey was a real BPA pick. Also, there's still hope for a RB before we are through. It would have been nice to get a head hunter. Is Michael Hamlin still available at SS?

gunslinger57 04-26-2009 02:14 PM

I wonder how much Buffalo likes Owen?

They did draft Shawn Nelson though.

sinnister 04-26-2009 02:22 PM

I am wondering if they are going to try and work with Hill as an OL prospect. I dont see us keeping 4 TEs, but who knows. I do like the Casey pick, and he may be another OD. I guess we will find out soon enough.

superbowlbound 04-26-2009 02:33 PM

and hamlin goes to the cowgirls.

Roy P 04-26-2009 02:53 PM

Eagles get a RT in Fenuki Tupou

Well, they already have two Arkansas sides of beef on the right side, not to mention hog Peters on the left.

popanot 04-26-2009 03:03 PM

Titans take Javon Ringer. I guess we're only team that does not feel the need to have good young depth at RB.
