Official Texans @ Colts Thread, 11/16/2008

Have the Texans ever entered a game this season with lower expectations? And will it give the team that us-against-the-world mentality, the emotional edge against a Colts team that probably thinks it already has this game won?

Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker on the call today. Game will be broadcast in Austin and San Antonio, but DFW (and now apparently Tyler) will see the Giants-Ravens game instead.

Arky 11-16-2008 10:38 AM

610am radio is reporting Dunta Robinson missed the flight and will be suspended/inactive for the game.

Edit: 610am now reporting he may still play...

WMH 11-16-2008 10:47 AM

Sanders Inactive

Well, this helps!

From PFT:

BOB SANDERS INACTIVE FOR COLTS
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 16, 2008, 11:44 a.m.
The Indianapolis Colts’ defense will be missing its best player today against the Houston Texans.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that safety Bob Sanders is inactive today.

Sanders was listed as questionable with a knee injury, and he didn’t practice this week. But it still comes as a bit of a surprise that he won’t be able to play, as he had started each of the last two games, wins over the Patriots and Steelers.

Sanders has started four games this season. Today’s game will be the sixth game he’s missed.

popanot 11-16-2008 10:56 AM

I'm having a hard time getting excited about this game. And it will probably be that way for the rest of the games as well. Sad, really.

I don't know why, I've been especially pessimistic this season, but I smell an upset.

Time to give the Colts the thrashing they so richly deserve....

popanot 11-16-2008 12:10 PM

I tell you, if they'd just reduce the turnovers and improve the D a little bit, this team could be pretty darn good.

Arky 11-16-2008 12:10 PM

Texans receive the opening kickoff and matriculate right down the field. Slaton with a couple of good runs. 3rd and 1 at the 10 yd line - pass fails so Texans settle for the FG.

Texans 3, Colts 0

nunusguy 11-16-2008 12:11 PM

Great decision Kubiak - I'm sure we're gonna beat Peyton scoring FGs.

Yep, they just haven't figured out how to get over the hump....

popanot 11-16-2008 12:17 PM

Are there any fans in the stadium? Talk about quiet...

Arky 11-16-2008 12:20 PM

Texans kickoff. Colts get a good return to the Texan 49 yard line. Drive stalls at the Texan 22. Colts get the FG.

Texans 3, Colts 3

Arky 11-16-2008 12:28 PM

Colts kickoff. Texans return to their own 28 yard line. 1st play, big pass to Walter puts the ball at the Colt 11 yard line. 2 runs = no gain. Rosenfels sacked on 3rd down. Texans settle for the 34 yard FG.

Texans 6, Colts 3

Gotta start getting those TD's....

nunusguy 11-16-2008 12:32 PM

Freeney is a hand-full, obviously too much for our rook LT.
Can't get over how small the Colts inside DLine is. One tackle listed at 265
and the other at just 254. No wonder we ran the ball so effectively on our first drive.

Arky 11-16-2008 12:42 PM

2nd quarter.

Texans kick off. Colts move the ball into Texan territory - long time consuming drive. Colts converting many 3rd downs along the way. However, Addai drops pass on a 3rd down so Colts settle for the 39 yd. FG.

Texans 6, Colts 6

Arky 11-16-2008 12:51 PM

Colts kick off and Texans return it to about the 25. Texans go 3 and out and have to punt. Colts have a holding penalty on the punt return. Colts take over at their own 21.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:00 PM

Colts have a 3 and out and have to punt. Illegal substitution penalty on the Colts so they have to re-punt.

JJ with the good return all the way to the Colt 40.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:06 PM

Green runs it in from the 1, TD Texans!

Texans 13, Colts 6

popanot 11-16-2008 01:17 PM

That play right there pretty much sums up why this D sucks. Give up 18 on 3rd and 15.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:22 PM

Colts putting together a furious 2 minute drive before halftime.

-------------

Colts have to settle for the FG.

Texans 13, Colts 9

5 seconds left in the half.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:28 PM

Halftime.

Stats:

Passing: Rosenfels 5/8 for 111 yards, 0 TD's, 0 INT's

Rushing: Slaton 9/55, Green 5/8

Receiving: Walter 2/70, Johnson 2/27, Daniel 1/14

Leading Tacklers: Adibi 5, Ryans 4, Ferguson 4

Time of possession: Texans 14:59, Colts 15:01

nero THE zero 11-16-2008 01:33 PM

Man, Mario is all in Ugoh's head. Hopefully that translate into some stats in the second half.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:38 PM

Texans kick off to start the 2nd half. Colts return it to the 19 yard line.

TheMatrix31 11-16-2008 01:38 PM

I'm sick of these damn guys letting the Colts convert on every freakin' play.

Mario is wired today. Noticed they are starting to give Ugoh some help....

Keith 11-16-2008 01:47 PM

defense forced to call timeout.

if I can read lips, Kubiak's might have said something like "f***in' bull!"

god, i hate our defense.

Travis was taken off the field. Looked like a knee injury maybe.

ETA - TD Colts, what a waste.

i'll say it again, i hate this defense.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:48 PM

Kubes not happy ("that's BS!") with the Colts running a quick set while the Texans were substituting... Texans had to burn a timeout.

-----------

Manning hits Addai on a 23 yard pass.

Colts 16, Texans 13

Arky 11-16-2008 01:53 PM

Colts kick off - JJ returns to the 21.

WMH 11-16-2008 01:54 PM

Wowowowowowowowowowowow!!!!!!

Arky 11-16-2008 01:54 PM

Yeah baby! Slaton 71 yard TD!

Texans 20, Colts 16

TheMatrix31 11-16-2008 01:55 PM

Awesome! Right before the snap, I proclaimed, "C'mon guys, how are you guys going to screw this up?"

Guess I was wrong.

Arky 11-16-2008 01:59 PM

Texans kick off. Touchback. Colts takeover at the 20.

1st play, big pass for 28 yards.

Man.

TJ back in.

Arky 11-16-2008 02:02 PM

Colts waste no time answering.

Addai runs it in from about 7 yards out.

Colts 23, Texans 20

popanot 11-16-2008 02:03 PM

Offense finally gives a big play and then the D rolls over and takes it up the _ _ _! Please fire Richard Smith, jeezus!!! If nothing more than for my sanity!

Arky 11-16-2008 02:06 PM

Colts kick off. JJ returns it to the 21.

Texans go 3 and out and have to punt.

Colts take over at their 26.

Arky 11-16-2008 02:12 PM

Sure could use a turnover right here....

----------

Bulman down.

popanot 11-16-2008 02:13 PM

We're playing a 2 LB set here.

EDIT: And getting torched with the run...

Arky 11-16-2008 02:18 PM

End of the 3rd quarter.

Colts driving and at the Texan 10 yard line.

---------------

10 yard pass to Harrison = TD.

Colts 30, Texans 20

Bennett is having a terrible game.
