Official Texans vs. Colts Game Thread, 10/09/2014

The 3-2 Texans will host the 3-2 Colts in prime time game Thursday night at NRG Stadium. Up for grabs is the lead in the AFC South. The Texans are coming off a 20-17 loss to the Cowboys and the Colts are coming off a 20-13 home win against the Ravens. The Colts have played just two road games but are averaging 34 pts/game on the road. The Texans have played just two home games but are holding opponents to an average of 11.5 pts/game at home. Both teams are 4-1 ATS (against the spread).

TV = CBS (channel 11 local), 7:25pm, Thursday, October 9 (Also shown on NFLN)

Announcers = Jim Nance, Phil Simms

The line = Colts by 2.5 to 3

Nconroe 10-07-2014 10:11 PM

sounds like all Texans not already on IR will be ready to play Thursday night.

Hopefully offense can sustain their drives more consistently and defense has another good game putting pressure on Luck and forcing a few turnovers.

HPF Bob 10-08-2014 02:17 PM

My key will be sustaining the ground game and getting an above-average performance from Fitzpatrick. Keeping the ball out of Luck's hands as much as possible will be vital. Honestly, I think we lose this one although I've felt that way about the Texans every week this season except at Oakland.

I didn't think we had much of a chance to win Sunday up in Arlington, but then we have so many things go our way into the second half, tie it for OT, then win the OT coin flip, but in OT manage to grab defeat out of the jaws of victory. So I got no idea about tomorrow night except that I'll be wearing my DQ T-shirt while being glued to the tube.

From PFT:
Colts down both starting guards against Texans
Posted by Josh Alper on October 8, 2014, 4:30 PM EDT

Lance Louis filled in at right guard when the Colts were without Hugh Thornton two weeks ago and then moved to left guard to cover for the injured Jack Mewhort in last Sunday’s victory over the Ravens.

Unless there’s a Lance Louis clone floating around, one that would surely be named Louis Lance, the Colts are going to need to dig a bit deeper to find two starting guards against the Texans on Thursday night. Both Mewhort, who has an ankle injury, and Thornton, who has been sidelined this week by back woes, have been ruled out for the game. Joe Reitz and A.Q. Shipley would be the top options to join Louis in the starting lineup.

Nickel corner Darius Butler has also been ruled out because of an ankle injury and defensive end Arthur Jones will miss another game while he recovers from a high ankle sprain of his own. Jones has missed the last three games for Indianapolis.

The only other injury concerns for Indy are at linebacker, where Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) is questionable and Bjoern Werner (ankle) is probable.

popanot 10-09-2014 12:37 PM

Is it too much to ask for us to beat the Colts and have a decent showing on prime time?

Nconroe 10-09-2014 05:44 PM

Texans win over Colts in prime-time - that would sure be nice, I might have to celebrate that with pecan pie and vanilla ice cream.

Late word is RG Brooks is out and LG Jones is sick but will try to go - so this could end up being a wash.

I hope you guys are enjoying watching our young guys because everything I have seen so far disgusts me thoroughly.

popanot 10-09-2014 07:40 PM

What an embarrassment. Nice way to start a prime time game at home. Someone please call NRG and wake up our team!

Arky 10-09-2014 07:42 PM

Colts 10, Texans 0

10:40 left in the 1st qtr.

chuck 10-09-2014 07:45 PM

What a joke of a franchise. They spent a first round draft pick on a guy who tries to get out of the way of a guy who's trying to score a touchdown. AND, he's their best corner.

Incredible. The Texans are a total disgrace.

But hell yeah, I'm loving watching Daryl Morris scratch his ass on the bench. And Alfred Blue. Hell of a special teams player. Really loving his kickoff coverage.

Arky 10-09-2014 07:48 PM

Alright F what I said earlier. Throw dirt on them and put in Mallett.

popanot 10-09-2014 07:51 PM

WTH was our coaching staff thinking? There wasn't a player within 15 yards of the middle of the field on that on-sides kick.

Arky 10-09-2014 07:55 PM

Pass to Doyle gets 4. 3rd and 2 coming up.

Do you want him to play corner, inside linebacker? Outside linebacker?

They already have dirt on them with Fitz in there. Our D has won the games for us, not the O. We can't keep up against a good offensive team - especially with limited Fitz in there. D's have ZERO respect for Fitz.

popanot 10-09-2014 08:01 PM

Do we even have Guards playing tonight?

Arky 10-09-2014 08:01 PM

Slot him in as General Manager and we'll be off to a good start.

popanot 10-09-2014 08:12 PM

Other than JJ, the guy we just signed off of the Ravens practice squad is our best D player. Funny this is, he just arrived in town and we apparently have no body better than him at that position.

Arky 10-09-2014 08:13 PM

Colts 24, Texans 0

End of the 1st qtr.

chuck 10-09-2014 08:13 PM

I wonder what it would be like to be a fan of a team that outcoaches the other team every once in a while.

Anyhoo, I'm loving watching the young guys.

popanot 10-09-2014 08:16 PM

It's OK, Texans CBs and LBs. You don't have to cover anyone tonight. Our O will get us back in the game.

nunusguy 10-09-2014 08:16 PM

Colts were so ready to play and Texans so left their heads up in Arlington (and up their butts) after that OT loss. Still you'd think the home team would be as ready as the road team on a short week like this. We might actually see Mallet tonight, what's to lose.

chuck 10-09-2014 08:21 PM

How McNair has the balls to show up at a game that he knows is going to be on national television as the owner of this piece of shit franchise is something I'll never know.

Arky 10-09-2014 08:26 PM

Foster punches it in from the 13!

Colts 24, Texans 14

8:22 left in the half.

popanot 10-09-2014 08:44 PM

How many times are we going to let the Colts O off the hook on these 3rd downs? My gosh! Coverage and tackling are awful tonight.
