Official Texans vs. Ravens Game Thread, 12/13/2010

Next up, the 8-4 Ravens come to Reliant Park for Monday Night Football. Can the 5-7 Texans finally put a good game together against a good team with the nation watching? Texans will be in their Battle Red unis....

TV = Monday 7:30pm, ESPN

Announcers = Tirico, Jaworski, Gruden

Opening line = Ravens by 3
Current line = Ravens by 3

Set your DVR's.

Joshua 12-06-2010 02:58 PM

Nobody shows up better on the national stage and nobody matches physicality with physicality and intensity with intensity like a Gary Kubiak-led Texans team. Should be a cakewalk.

WMH 12-06-2010 03:39 PM

From the looks of it last night, it would appear they will be without Heap next Monday. Pulled up lame on the first play of the game, and looked to be in some serious pain.

Mark that down as something that doesn't suck.

nunusguy 12-07-2010 08:06 AM

On offense they're receivers lack deep speed and there line is not that good, so I'm thinking we can get to Flacco ? On the other side of the ball, the Ravens Dline may have mauled Pitts' OLine and Ngata and Suggs are outstanding, but we've got a better line than Pittsburg and I think Schaub will have some time, though his opportunities will be limited. Lewis is way past his prime, as he specializes on jumping on piles long after the ball carrier has been downed.
I see us winning this game, not that it makes that much difference because any real chance the Texans had of making the playoffs is now probably history.

NBT 12-07-2010 04:21 PM

nunu, you better quit smoking that funny stuff! :p

Hey I'm serious, the Ravens aren't the only team in this game that lost their last outing and therefor will come into this MNF contest really pizzed-off looking for some azz to kick. I'm thinking Ray Lewis and Ngata had better have their bonnets secured tightly because it's gonna be stormy-weather in H-Town this Monday.

Joshua 12-08-2010 08:29 AM

If history is any indication, the Ravens will find a way to score 28 points, so the Texans have to find a way to score 29. I'm having a hard time believing we're going to put up those kinds of numbers against the Ravens D.

NBT 12-08-2010 12:06 PM

All kidding aside, the Texans MUST put up a better opening quarter defense than they have shown recently to have a chance. If we get behind in the first quarter by 14 or 21 points, as we have been doing lately, you can kiss the game goodby. The Ravens defense is just too good for that to happen.

Blitzwood 12-12-2010 11:17 AM

Texans never show up for nationally televised games. We'll see what happens since they're wearing their battle reds......

I agree, but I been wrong a lot this year.

HPF Bob 12-12-2010 08:19 PM

I suspect the last shred of a playoff hope dies if the Texans lose this week now that Jacksonville has won.

Yeah, if they lose it probably is all over. They need to win out. There still in it till they ain't. :)

Jags could still slip against the Colts or overlook the Skins...

TheMatrix31 12-13-2010 07:40 AM

I think the way it works is, if we win out, then Indy would have to Jacksonville next week, lose to either Oakland or Tennessee, and Jacksonville has to lose to Washington and if not.......then Week 17 Houston/Jacksonville would be for all the marbles.

And it gets flexed for the marquee prime time game with all the marbles on the table.....

Hey, no one ever say there were rules to the what-if game.

I'm not too worried about the O, Ravens or not, slow start, fast start, whatever. They will put up at least 24 tonight.

The D.....I think someone said earlier thier WR's aren't blazers, and I would agree with that, so maybe we have a chance. Not a Rusty Smith special type of a chance, but at least our DB's won't spend most of the game reading "Boldin" "Mason" or "Some other obscure WR that will go off tonight"

Heading out to drink beer in the orange lot at 3PM on a cold Monday.
NOTHING BETTER!

Sure hope I want to stay in my seat for the whole 4th quarter.....

Arky 12-13-2010 07:29 PM

Time to give the Ravens the thrashing they so richly deserve.....

83% of the betting public likes the Ravens tonight..

Walterfootball likes the Texans +3

If Shaub had a stronger arm, this game would be tied 7-7...

HPF Bob 12-13-2010 08:16 PM

Texans to go for the FG.

Rackers 52 yarder is short.

Score remains:

Ravens 7, Texans 0

chuck 12-13-2010 08:21 PM

I have never seen a team that is completely unable to return a kick beyond the 20.

Schaub's arm strength is a real issue.

We're about to go down 14-0.

As usual, Kubiak's offense is doing nothing in the first half.

Nine years of garbage.

Big Texas 12-13-2010 08:22 PM

This game is the perfect indication of how over-confident (stupid) Kubiak is.

Nothing about this game says that he is fighting for his job. They have come out running the same plays. Dropped passes, bad tackling, and no accountability.

"miss a tackle" who cares "we'll get'em next time".

Nothing about the Ravens defense has been spectacular today, yet we still have 0 points...

Arky 12-13-2010 08:23 PM

Dump to Rice gets about 4. Ball at the Ravens 46.

Rice for a couple. Brings up 3rd and 3.

Serious question: What kind of accountability are you expecting within the season? Players benched?

Arky 12-13-2010 08:29 PM

False start Winston, 1/2 the distance. 1st and 12 coming up.

Foster for about 1. 2nd and 11 coming up.

Pass to OD goes for 31! Nice catch!

Foster runs into a clogged up mess for about 1.... 2nd and 9 coming up.

Foster for about 5. 3rd and 4 coming up.

Schaub is sacked back at the Texan 25. Texans have to punt.

Ravens bring the punt back to their 41 or so. Flag on the play. 15 yards against Texans for running out of bounds during the punt. Ball at the Texan 44.

TheMatrix31 12-13-2010 08:32 PM

Sherrick McMannis needs to be cut right now. Seriously.

chuck 12-13-2010 08:35 PM

Joe Marciano needs to be fired right away. It is literally incredible that he has kept his job since day one. It's almost as surprising as the fact that John McClain has a job in professional journalism.

Arky 12-13-2010 08:36 PM

Rice for about 1. 2nd and 9 coming up.

Big hole for Rice goes all the way to the Texan 27.

By the way, McMannis might prove to be the best corner the team has.

Of course we'll never know until he's cut and is playing for another team.

chuck 12-13-2010 08:38 PM

Flacco is so much better than Schaub it is just disgusting.

He should be cut for that attitude and stupidity. Going out of bounds and not coming back in? What a buffoon.

Arky 12-13-2010 08:43 PM

Texans need to score before the half....

5:23 left in the half.

Slaton downs the kickoff in the endzone. Texans ball at their 20.

Dump to Foster goes inc. 2nd and 10 coming up.

Screen pass is deflected by Ngata, inc. 3rd and 10 coming up.

Ravens fair catch at their 33. Ravens ball.

C'mon, Schaub - give the defense a break.....

That's on Marciano. McMannis may not know the rule. Did you see that idiot last night running around in the back of the end zone thinking he was bleeding clock?

Say, didn't we used to have a guy, what was his name? Number 80?
