Okay, you don't send someone back to the locker room if the wind is knocked out of him.
Something's wrong. |
Niners bring the kickoff back to the 27.
Let's hold 'em boys.... 1st down pass by Smith is inc. Pass to Morgan good for the 1st down. 6:56 left in the game. Ball at the Niner 39. Delay of game on Niners. 1st and 15. |
I wish I had confidence that we won't screw this up.
|
Nice breakup by Wilson on the 1st down pass. 2nd and 10.
Pass to V Davis good for about 9. 3rd and 6 coming up. Pass to Crabtree good for the 1st down in Texan territory. Pass to Morgan picks up another 1st down at the Texan 25. Smith hits V Davis over the middle for the TD. Texans 24, Niners 21 |
The way you determine the EXCELLENT teams. All the other games had about 21 at the half. Now:
GB 31-3 SD 30-7 IND 35-6 NE 35-6 Thats how you close out a game. Not what we are doing right. |
WTF! How many times are they going to let Davis score on that FING play!
|
yikes, where is our pass defense. we gotta burn some clock here
|
This is what we have been accustomed to with this team.
INCONSISTANCE!!!!!!! |

Texans bring the kickoff back to the 17.
1st down pass to OD goes inc. |

Demeco one on one with Vernon Davis (4.3-40). With our run stopping safety over the top. How did he even get behind our D. |
Chest injury for Andre. I bet it's a broken rib. Get ready for Andre's yearly "miss a few games in the middle of the year" thing.
|
Pass to AD picks up a big 14 yards and a 1st down. 3:07 left in the game.
Slaton busts one. About 31 yards. Ball at the Niner 38. Slaton for -1 2 minute warning. |
Slaton for about 3. 3rd and 8 coming up. Timeout Niners.
Pass is tipped. Texans elect to punt. 1:50 left in the game. |
Punt is downed at the 15 but flag on the play. Holding on Niners = 1/2 the distance. Ball at the Niner 6.
Pass to Morgan picks up 10 and the 1st down. 1st down pass goes inc. 1:07 left... Pass to Bruce good for a long gainer out to the Niner 38. 2nd down pass goes inc. 45 secs left. Smith has to scramble out of bounds - short gain. 4th and 5. Flag on the play. Offense delay. 4th and 10. Whew! INT'ed by Wilson.... |
Thank you Eugene Wilson

4-3 is 4-3. A win's a win.
|
Man. This was a crazy game. Well at least we ended up with the second consecutive game saving picks.
|
Roughness on Pollard after the play gives the Texans the ball at their 39.
Texans are kneeling it out. Final score: Texans 24, Niners 21 A "W" is always pretty..... |
I am so glad that SF did not realize they could throw on us until the second half...

The second half was a disaster and it is unacceptable. Im pretty sure Peyton Manning will spend alot of time studying our secondary's second half performance. I can see him salivating as he watches.
|
Well, we don't play Peyton next week, we play Buffalo. Any win is acceptable. The way we played in the second half is what is questionable. Too conservative. Where SF was blitzing like crazy we were still rushing our 4 man front, sometimes only 3, trying to play prevent on Alex Smith. I am glad we played SF now, and not later when Crabtree really gets his feet on the ground. That young man is going to be something to see.

Went to the game yesterday and here's my question: why can't McNair/Texans cough up a few more bucks and get some off-duty cops to
direct the traffic at places like the 610 South Loop feeder/Fannin intersection ? But because we ultimatly won Sunday afternoon it was a great experience including the salute to the military with the pregame chopper-jump (Airborne !), the Marine Corps precision marching group at halftime, and both Bushs there for the presentation to Bush 41 on the new aircraft carrier named for him. What do we take away from the game that almost got away from us in the second half ? I like what Tillman said on channel 13 post game show last night - we take a "W" away from the game. |
It wasn't pretty, but it sure beats the alternative. We can build on this if the coach's use it the right way.
