I HATE the stunts that Smith calls that leave the ends wide open. Why would you want a 3-4 OLB type to stunt inside where he's sure to be completely ineffective while abandoning containment? Idiotic.

popanot 09-28-2008 02:35 PM

Containment!!!!! Jezzus!!!

TheMatrix31 09-28-2008 02:35 PM

Un-freakin-believable.

popanot 09-28-2008 02:39 PM

This defense sucks!!! Our DC sucks!!!

chuck 09-28-2008 02:40 PM

Who, other than Richard Smith, did not know that was coming?

Arky 09-28-2008 02:40 PM

Garrard runs, runs, runs it in for the TD.

Jags 27, Texans 24

TheMatrix31 09-28-2008 02:41 PM

I can't decide who I hate more; David Garrard, or our defensive coaching and personnel for not stopping that running bullcrap.

popanot 09-28-2008 02:43 PM

Kubiak is a frickin idiot! Call the Timeout!

Arky 09-28-2008 02:44 PM

AJ holds on!

chuck 09-28-2008 02:47 PM

Whooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

popanot 09-28-2008 02:47 PM

Special teams finally come through today.

Arky 09-28-2008 02:47 PM

Dang, that looked like it was going to be short. K Brown FG good.

Texans 27, Jags 27

Heading into OT....

NickO 09-28-2008 02:48 PM

that was even clutch watching it on the Yahoo box score.

WMH 09-28-2008 02:48 PM

Why do teams always leave a little squirt of time left on the clock when these games come down to the wire?????? Why not call a TO with 1 left?

TheMatrix31 09-28-2008 02:48 PM

There's gonna be a turnover in this OT. By which team? I have no idea.

Arky 09-28-2008 02:50 PM

Ooooo, the Jags win the toss....

Gotta do it defense...

Since we didn't win the toss, let's hope it's by the Hags. Man, we just can't get a break.

chuck 09-28-2008 02:52 PM

Mario's playing like a man possessed.

popanot 09-28-2008 02:55 PM

Unbelievable. Reeves gets toasted again by the coke head. Game over.

WMH 09-28-2008 02:55 PM

Ball Game:(

chuck 09-28-2008 02:57 PM

I've tried to give Reeves the benefit of the doubt, mainly because I hate to side with the talk radio idiots. But he is indeed terrible.

Big Texas 09-28-2008 02:59 PM

The guy just has no ball hawking skills. Speed with no awareness is worthless.

TheMatrix31 09-28-2008 02:59 PM

I miss Dunta Robinson.

Arky 09-28-2008 03:00 PM

Jags FG is good. Final score:

Jags 30, Texans 27

Man, this team is playing better each week but we're still 0-3....... :(

Big Texas 09-28-2008 03:02 PM

Great game. We played a great game. The deciding factor still lies on the fact that we can get no pass rush. Mario is the only one on that line getting anything similar to penetration. After he fights off the double team the ball is in the air.

On a good note though. We took the run away from a running team. Except for the fact that they forgot the qb can opt to run the ball if he so chooses.

popanot 09-28-2008 03:02 PM

How dumb does giving up a TD or not calling a timeout on that fake punt look now? I'm losing faith in ths coaching staff. And I wish they'd just go ahead and fire or demote Richard Smith. The D can't get any worse.

Does anyone know when he is expected back. Hopefully it is soon. And hopefully he comes back the same. A slower Dunta still is a better S than CC. Brown.

I've never, ever, ever liked Marciano. I've always thought he was a fraud. I still think so, now more than ever.

How do you fall for that one. Someone fell asleep on the sideline

Like I said at the start of the thread, Kubiak is either incredibly stupid or he surrounds himself with a horrible staff. I'm starting to think it's both.

nunusguy 09-28-2008 03:11 PM

Tough loss. It would have been oh so sweet to win this one, but atleast we saw the kind of team we expected to see today after they extended their
exhibition season by 2 games this year.
Great game for Schaub: 29/40, > 300 yrds, 3 TDs, no ints. My faith in him has been restored, now lets see him play that way with more consistancy.

jppaul 09-28-2008 03:26 PM

That was a heartbreaker man.

popanot 09-28-2008 03:37 PM

Offense - A : Nice gameplan and nice execution. Can't complain at all with the O today.

QB - A : Schaub was much better today. My only complaint would be he needs to check down to the RB once in awhile.

RB - B : Slaton is our best player right now. Chris Taylor needs to run harder and break a tackle once in awhile. Sad to say it, but he looks like a young Ron Dayne. Maybe not even that good.

WR - B : Not a bad effort from the WRs. Although, AJ need to make more plays and try to break a tackle or take on the DB/S once in awhile.

OL - A : I don't think they gave up a sack today and Schaub had time.

TE - A : Daniels was great today.

Defense - F : WTF... The D is a mess. Players out of position, bad play calling and obviously a badly coached unit judging by the tackling, etc. To give up that yardage 3-4 plays in a row to Garrard at the end was inexcusable.

DL - D : Everyone other than Mario, that is. The guy can't do it by himself! We're getting no penetration or containment at all. If you can't get to the QB, at least hold your position and don't let him scramble right up the middle.

LB - F : We're getting nothing from these guys as far as making plays (let alone BIG plays). And the tackling sucks!

DB - F : Reeves is awful and Bennett hasn't been much better. It's bad when Petey is your best DB. I'm ready to see what Molden or Wilson can do.

S - F : Were they even on the field today? How about knocking a WR out before or after the catch once in awhile? Let's give Barber some more time back there.

Special Teams - D : Kris Brown brings this grade up. Fake punt for a TD, no return game, coverage team never stopped them inside the 25 yard line, IIRC. Punting was nothing to write home about...

Coaching - D- : What can I say?? Kubiak and staff continue to be out-coached. And when DelRoido out-coaches you, it's pretty bad.

coloradodude 09-28-2008 03:44 PM

We scored 27 points and lost. I look for the defensive coordinator to get canned pretty soon.

That guy from Dallas I went to the class with this summer said pretty much the same thing (with the exception of the radio comment) only he added this..."wait til you see him in coverage."

This may happen. Probably not after this game, but if we put 25+ up next week and can't contain the other team, it could happen.

NBT 09-28-2008 05:01 PM

I have been saying it for a long time - I Hate Richard Smith and sorry excuse for a defense!

That would be nice. However, we still need a CB (maybe Molden), 2 LBs, 3 DL, and a couple of DBs on the back end. Then we could start running a defense like the Giants or Eagles. :D

Is that all we still need? just wonder if it is the coaching or the players, or I guess both ? Seems like everyone is giving defense and even special teams an "F" for today. I thought defense actually was better this week than previous two weeks. atleast a little better. but not adapting to game situations well.

I still hope due to all the youth we will get better as season goes along.

Mike 09-28-2008 08:47 PM

That was a terrible way to lose. I hate.. hate the NFL OT. Both teams should have a possession. The defense just sucks monkey wizz. How many times was Garrard going to tuck it away and run with it? 4th and 8 and that doughboy runs for 10 freakin yards. Ugggghhhhhh.

Next week that statue with a bad haircut is going to slice and dice us, and then scramble for first downs and I am going to watch blood leak from my ears.
