The Colts made it sound like we threw a bunch of money at him and it made me nervous. That's a deal I can live with....even if he doesn't work out.

From listening to him on the radio this AM, it sounded like he and the team were able to talk about how he would be used and he was comfortable with whatever was discussed. Sounded like Indy wanted him as insurance from Freeney being out.

When you think about the numbers game of who we have and will be keeping at the LB and DE positions, things become interesting.

Looks like a no risk/pretty low dollar deal for the potential upside.

I agree. Seems pretty reasonable.

Terrific contract. Low risk for Texans, with the potential to restore Rosey's salary stature if he performs in his 30s.

Thanks cak for the quote. I don't venture to the chron blogs often. I'll get the salary cap page updated here in a bit. I've been gone in SoCal the past two weeks, so I'm catching back up.

That contract looks like a really good one for both sides. If Colvin produces like he has, he's rewarded for it. If he's too old/broken down, there's not much guaranteed on the line. From my current vantage point, I think Colvin plays at least two of the three seasons.

I'll second that. Low risk, high reward. I like what it says about Colvin as well, i.e. that he's willing to base his compensation on his performance. If he stays healthy...

We did in their eyes. We offered a multiyear deal, so he knows where he will be for the next few years if he produces. I got the feeeling the Colts only offered a deal for this year.
